Fog Lamps

Great site!

I have 04 SE Crew - I have the wiring harnesses, just no lamps. Is it better to order factory fog lamps or is there an acceptable third-party set that works? Also, are they basically plug-and-play? I assume they just come on with the low-beams?

Check this site out for the info on foglights. It also includes install details. I will eventually get a kit for my 05 SE CC.

I gave Courtesy Nissan a call and they said the reason they have it listed that way is because many 05's don't have the fog lights pre-wired, but if you do you're good to go.

I ordered my fog lights from 1stNissanParts.com. My 4 x 2 '05 SE did have the proper connections for the lights and the total install took me about a half hour. The instrucions that were included were very complete and the kit is literally a "plug and play" upgrade.

First look behind the fog light location for the connector plugs taped out of the way. If they are there, you should be good to go on the install of factory fog lights.

Nissan's owner's manual is not much better. I have found several errors including this one where the word "beside" is used rather than "bedside".

Nissan must have completely redone the instruction sheet for the fog lights. My instructions were some of the worst I have ever seen. They looked like 5th generation photo copies. There were photos that were out of sequence and the written instructions even included faulty information. The instruction sheet said that a 5mm socket was needed for installation when actually an 8mm was needed. It was not good to find out that the instructions were wrong after you spent time looking for a 5 mm wrench and crawled underneath your truck. The instructions tell you to how to pry out the hole opening plugs by putting tape on the bumper and pry with a screwdriver. It's much easier just to get a pair if needlenose pliers and pull straight out. The instructions do not tell you that you do not have auto on headlights even though "auto" is clearly printed on the replacement stalk control that is included with the lights. There are numerous other errors as well. The average guy would do better not even using the instructions.

Well, at least in this instance it's actually a word. What the hell hx? Is that supposed to be an abbreviation for a three letter word?

I ordered a set of factory fog lamps from my dads dealership. Easy as could be to install. The instructions say to use a screwdriver with tape or a cloth to protect the paint to pry out the black vented plugs. I found an easier was to do this is to crawl under the truck and locate them from there and push them out that way. Much easier and less chance of damage to the paint. Installation is simple should only take you about 20 minutes. I have a 04 CC SE and the wiring harness was already there, just plug it in.

Ok, so the question I have not seen answered yet is this: What if I order the stalk with the auto option and I currently do NOT have that option? Is the sensor already in place whether you have the auto function or not?
