Wade In Channel Deflector Installation

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you could give me any insight to putting on the Wade In Channel Wind Deflectors?

I read the instructions, but....I'm looking for an easy step by step help guide.

Thanks,
Crickett

This was for the WeatherTek, heard they were similar.

Quote:
The Weathflectors were VERY, VERY easy to install. I just don't understand how many had a difficult time. You simply stick the vertical edge, near the mirror, in first. Make sure the vertical edge is resting on the dew edge and grasp that vertical edge and bow the flector outward, a way from the truck, and slide the rear corner of the flector into the vertical slot of the window track but leaving 1/2" from the flector 'lip' to the top of the window slot.

Then starting at the front edge, start pulling down and working the flector into the slot. Make sure to keep the flector from rubbing on the window's top metal edge and damaging your paint. It's very easy to keep this from happening, just pay attention.

Once it's installed, make sure it's seated properly and then raise your window "SLOWLY", paying special attention when the window contacts the rear corner of the flector. It will pop but you can take the stress out by gently pushing the flector to allow the window to slide next to it. You need to inch(1/4" to 1/2") the window up so you don't pinch your fingers. This was the fronts.

The back windows were a snap, they have tape to hold them in until they setup from the pressure fit. The fronts didn't need tape as the front vertical edge helped hold them in place until they pressure fitted. With the backs, you remove the tape and slide the rear corner of the flector in place and then wedge the front corner in. The flector really just slides right into place hence the need for the tape to hold it intially. Again, when raising your windows, do it slowly, and the same way as was done on the fronts. 1/2" by 1/2" and pushing the flector outward to help the window slide next to it keeps stress down and avoids a possible cracked flector.

For both front and rear windows, you need to raise and lower your windows at least 5 times to set the windows and then leave the windows up for 24 hours so that the flectors setup.

By no means am I telling anyone to use my method to install the flectors, only describing how I did the install and the cautions I took. Read Weatherflector's manual on how to install the proper way to avoid damage to flector, truck, and body.

Have a good one and hope you find this informational.

I don't remember in detail but I do remember their way was more difficult required bending it. I think it was much easier if you put in the opposite (to what they say) end into the channel first.

Install is easy...the important part is to prep the edge inside the window channel with the alcohol cleaning pads where the Wade has to adhere. Do this right and leave the windows up for a couple of days and you shouldn't have any problems. Mine have been on since September and no problems at all. Windows work great and the Wades are stuck tight.

I finally got mine on Friday as well and plan to install them when it quits raining. I had to reorder then because they sent the wrong ones. The install instructions stink to say the least, but I'll give it a go tommorrow. good luck with yours.

i have the bugshield and it looks good, but the install is cheap as hell. it doesn't fit under the hood correctly. really the only thing holding it is the hood. my "stuff" guy has offered to "fix" it, but I don't like anyone touching my truck.

I also think the truxedo bed cover doesn't fit right with the bedliner on the XE. it leaks like hell even though my "stuff" guy says I put it on perfect. makes me wonder if I have just wasted a lot of money.

The fuzz may be on the inside edge but the outside edge is smooth, you can run your finger along the edge where the Wades adhere. It is possible that parts have changed but the outside edge on mine is smooth.

Just dry fit them before pulling the tape off and you'll get the idea.

Yea, they are pretty cheap. Some people like myself have had good luck with them and others have had sealing problems, window problems, etc. I'm not sure why. Just prepare the edge well and give the Wade a good clean place to adhere. Good luck.

Paint chipping??? I guess if you were clueless , you could chip paint. I don't see how unless you beat on the truck with the Wade.

I love my Wade's

Easy install, they do look great.... maybe a little tight at first getting the window up into the channel, but no problems at all. They are very durable to me.. not thin or cheap at all.. I just don't like the stick-on look from the other models..

Good job!

Leave those windows up for a couple days. Oceanside should have some sunny days which I think will help the adhesive to stick.
