Tool Box

Hello! I have a question about the optional tool box that comes in the bed of the truck. My husband just purchased his new Titan and it came with it. My husband did not see the need for it, for him anyways, and requested that they remove the box. Well, they tried and could not get it open. (I guess there is something inside that you need to access to remove the box itself) The dealer thinks that the lock may have rusted in the rain or something. He actually told my husband to try and take it off himself. He must not have known he was talking to a man who hammers nails where screws go and uses alot of tape on his home improvement projects Needless to say, I do not want my hub to even attempt to remove this box. Dealer did offer to have him take it back and his guys will remove it.

Is this box easily removable? I dont want the new baby sitting at the dealer all day for something we might be able to do. I also dont want to damage it and be charged for something we dont want....

Be gentle, this is my first post Hub bought the truck last night. I had lurked around this forum for awhile when we were talking about getting the truck and now I finally have an excuse to post! Any help will be appreciated!

You have to get inside to unlatch the toolbox from the rail. Once you get it open you'll see the latch handle. Then it just slides out. A locksmith can open it easily and then send the bill to the dealer.

theres a red handle inside that "unclips" it from the back side. there are also 2 knobs on the left and right inside of the box. they just tighten down to hold the sides in place. after that, the box just slides on out.

btw, i have the toolbox, i love mine! but mine never sees any tools... i use it as a cooler for tailgate parties

Locksmiths always get in! I have opened many a truck box! More than likely the lock needs some WD40 and move the key in and out a few times, then it may work. If not, call the neighborhood locksmith and you will be amazed how quickly they take care of you! Dealer should definately pay if this is the route taken! Heck, I need a vacation, tell me where you are and I will bring the family and we can make a good vacation of it. You do have things for families where you live right?! Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions... we will be sure to give them a try.

If worse comes to worse, we might just use the cooler idea

are you saying you can't open it? did you unlock the pop button? and when you do get it off. see if you can get something else in trade. that thing is expensive for a tool box.

yea! it works awesome as a cooler! plus there are 2 little drain holes on the bottom of it. when i first saw it, i immediately called it a "ca-ca-ca-cooooola" {from Waterboy}.

and lately since the weather's been nice, ive used mine about every other weekend...let me know if you dont want yours, i'll take it... i can always use 2 "sliding" coolers!

the pop lock is the problem... it wont unlock...

There are drain holes already? SWEET! If only we can get it open, we could use it for its unintended use!
