Hitch pictures or tailpipe explained

Hi guys,
Over on this thread Consolidation of names for group buy on hitch there was some question as to how the hitch needs to fit "between" the exhaust. I snapped a couple of quick pictures that will hopefully explain how it mates up.

The first picture is an almost sideways view. The rusty thing is the exhaust pipe hanger, and the solid black bar the hitch.

On the second picture, taken from about underneath you can see the bolt, and hopefully how it needs to "fit in."

I couldn't really figure out how to take pictures from another angle to explain it any better.

Cheers.

-Steve

It's not really that hard to do, you just have to fit up that side first. It looks deceptivly easy if you start on the other side....

I'm sure it's easy to do...I just have to find another person to hold it up while i bolt or vice versa...maybe ill ask the fiancee but im not sure if she can handle 50 pounds...maybe ill have her start the bolting and ill tighten....

Again, I used a jackstand on the opposite side to hold it up. I put a shop rag over the head of it to keep it from scratching. As long as you can get the stand high enough it shouldn't be a problem.

Just be careful not to drop it on your head, that might hurt.

also i assume that the wiring that is tucked up behind the bumper just plugs into the hitch??? is that correct?

Mines an SE, so it's there. I'm not sure about the XEs. I just got the Hoppy 7-7+4 adapter for mine.
You can check for the harness, mine was on the upper lip, inside the bumper. Just a capped plug end.

On the Nissan one I think the answer is yes. Mine was Third party, so the adapter and hitch are seperate.

I installed the same Hoppy 7+4 on mine and posted a list of wire colors and their functions (on the stock harness) in the Trailering FAQ thread started by Squid if anyone wants to check that out.
