Nissan OEM Oil Filter Question

A simple question....
What is the correct part number for the OEM oil filter?

I stopped by my local Nissan parts department and asked for a Titan oil filter. The guy behind the counter disappears for a couple of minutes, then hands me a filter. I pay for it and head back to work w/o even really looking at the filter.

Then I look at the markings on the box. Part number is 15208-9E000. The "vehicle application" table on the side of the box does not list the Titan either.

I check online at courtesyparts.com and the part number they list for the Titan oil filter is 15208-A6000.

So, did the parts guy give me the wrong filter? Or is it perhaps old stock (with an older part number) that is really the same filter?

Thanks,

-FW.Titan

Not sure of the PN, but the Titan uses the same filter as the Xterra and Frontier with the 3.3 V6.

The 15208-9E000 fits most Nissan's from 94 and up, IF you ever get a 15208-65F00, this is just a smaller version of the 9E000... It has the same thread bore, just a smaller filter, BUT NEVER take the 15208-55Y00 which is large half a coffe can size, this will NEVER work on a titan or Armada!
And yes the 65F00 can be replaced by the 9E000, as some of you might find the 65F00 on your vehicles.

Anybody here use the K&N Gold Oil Filter? I used to use them on my Mustang, and my dad still uses the K&N Oil Filters on his '97 Chevy Silverado....Just curious...so far all my oil changes have been done at the dealership...

Both the K&N and Mobil 1 oil filters are made by Champion Labs. They are the best filters you can buy. They are only slightly different in design. The K&N has a tad more filter media, but the Mobil has a tad better flow psi.

Here's a guy who cut open numerous different brands of oil filters and reports what he found inside....Not a scientific analysis, but definitely good information.

All I know is tha UOA's confirm that the puny stock oil filter does a very good job of oil filtration. You can't go wrong with it, but not to say you can't improve on it though but would be a very marginal improvement if any.

Kinda funny, but the Titan uses the same size filter that is in my wifes V6 Accord. Will save me from having to memorize different part numbers.

Agreed, thanks for the info guys!

I too was very surprised when the box listed VG, VQ and KA versions of the Nissan V6 engine. The parts guy checked and checked and rechecked and even cross referenced withtheir aftermarket option and we kept coming back to 15208 9E000. So mine got changed this past weekend at 1,130 miles.

So FW, make darn sure your oil drain pan will take all the oil before you pull the plug. I made sure I checked mine before I started because the largest capacity of my cars is only 5 qts.

ALSO- make darn sure you have a very good filter wrench, the best kind for this vehicle would be the huge "socket" type that grabs the bottom edge with the flat surfaces. I have NEVER taken off a filter that was on so tight in all my life, the factory really screwed mine on tight!!!
