Whistling noise at low RPM's

Alright I did a search on the K&N 77series and did not find anything on a "whistling" problem. For all I know I could have done something wrong on the install, but I went over my work and can;t find anything wrong. When at low rpm's (2000-3500) I hear a slight whistle. Now is this normal? I have never heard this on any other vehicle of mine with intakes before. It performs great, but the whistle is annoying. It kind of sounds like a turbo constantly spooling-up. Any ideas?

I remember someone mentioning a whistling noise with a throttle body spacer, but I don't recall if this is normal for the K&N setup also. It seems like there are a lot more members here that have the Volant instead. I haven't done an intake mod, and would rather not hear the theme from Andy Griffith when I pull out.

If you've already checked it for leaks, I'd give K&N a call, or drop them an email. I'm sure they've heard it all before. They may even give you some info that you can post for someone else's benefit.

The whistling on mine is from the factory system. It was exposed when I put my AEM on. Here is a thread I started a while ago. Whistling Titan

I don't have the 77 Series but do have the 57 Series Gen II Air Intake Kit. I do not get a "wistle" sound but do get a BIG sucking sound under engine load. Pretend like you are going to wistle but then suck air in. It kind of sounds like that.

I did have a little wistle sound and found that it was the sponge material on the left side of the radiator (as I look out the windshield) was loose. The double sided tape had cut loose and the wind was pushing through.

m95roadster I appreciate it. I have never heard anything like this before. All of my vehicles that have had either CAI or a short ram never did this. Again thanx

Not a problem! It startled me when I first heard it. My other cars have intakes as well and I have never heard this before.
