Bike fork attachments for Utili-Track?

I'm looking for some bicycle fork attachments that I can install into the front Utili-Track so I can mount bikes upright in the bed. Anybody know where I can buy them? Thanks.

I mounted my Thule bar on the front utili-track. I just drilled some holes in the bar and got some bolts that were long enough to go from the cleats through the bar. Works perfect.

After I mounted it, I also thought that if I had a wide enough bar, I could have cut it to the width of the side tracks and slid it in there, then lock it in place with some cleats on each side of it.

I also cut off a section of one of the tire trays (about 8 inches of it) and mounted it on a cleat which I put in the bed track to hold the tire in place.

If you're looking for a cheap solution:
http://www.nashbar.com/results.cfm?brand=1206&init=y
Which is even cheaper here:
http://corporate.marketworks.com/Sto...c=0&i=52772179

I ordered from the latter and am waiting on shipment (should arrive sometime next week). At ~$20 shipped, this was much cheaper than other posts I'd seen here at Titantalk. I think two mounts come in one box, but even if there is just one, its still less than Yakima or RockyMounts. Though, both can come with locking skewers.

I plan to attach them with these:
http://doitbest.com/shop/product.asp...022&sku=563749
More user experience on Superstrut spring nuts in the 2nd link travism mentions. Will let you know how well these mounts integrate with the utilitrack. I hope they work somewhat like the utilitrack tie-downs where i can get them in and out of the track easily by loosening the hand/thumb screw. Would switch out screw for a bolt if looking for more security.

BTW: I think Rhode Gear has some affiliation with Yakima, but I'm not that into bike stuff to know for sure.

Nice set up Retriever. I used RockyMounts and the cone nuts.

Extremely helpful, guys, especially the Superstrut spring nuts idea. Some are so expensive that it's downright silly. I have everything I need but the method to attach the fork mount to the tracks, so now I'm set. Thanks!

Very nice Retriever, I would do a set up like yours but I don't own a bike.

SmokeSE,

Did you get your bike rack done?

Would like to see some pics.

Thanks for the sources too.

The original design is also way cool. I am partial to something where my kids wont ding the truck too much when they retrieve the bikes. (Escort tail light and bezel caused almost 2K damage to the truck bumper and bed!).

Any thoughts on a bike rack style set up where one can just park the bike with the tire wedged in similar to the racks one sees at the parks etc.

I usually just throw the bike in the bed without using the rack anyway. I'd probably use it for a long trip.

With gas price keep going up, I might buy a bike. I like the way it look in the bed anyway.

I mounted a Yakima locking mount to the two Utili-trac "locks." It was easy to do, all I did was put the existing bolt through the Yakima's mounting holes and tighten it down.

Seems like mounting the brackets to a 2x6 lying flat in the bed would be a cheap solution. No drilling in the bed required, and easily removable.

That's about what I did in my old truck; you could mount them to a bed width 2x4 and slide it into the side slots for a 2x4. Unfortunately, the Titan only has those slots at the back of the bed. My mounts are designed to be screwed or bolted on and I'm still trying to figure out how to connect them to my utilitrack...
