Question Best value in a soft tonneau cover?...

Hey guys I'm looking for a soft tonneau cover for the 2005 CC (no utili-trac). I've read many times on this forum that the OEM one is poor quality and the zippers have to be replaced. I like the Truxedo, but at $400 it's just too much money for a piece of vinyl and some plastic rails ($300 is my max).

How are people's experience with the Extang covers or any other ones on eBay? I want something that will last a long time and not break the bank, doesn't need to have any fancy features (easy open or low-pro or anything). The aforementioned ones are less than $200 shipped new, seem like a deal.

Thanks,
-Cyrus

I could not justify a fancy cover either. Settled on a Berlin hinged cover. I easily made it work with the utilitrack. No holes drilled. Very heavy 2-sided vinyl and for a $200 price. (Price went up $15 since last year.) Can't beat it for the price.

The hinged version also rolls up easilly.
If you don't care for the hinged feature, the fixed version is less expensive.
I purchased the base level Xtang in 1995. Nice warrantee but material was fabric backed. Berlin is heavier two side finished.

Thanks for the info.

Well I've been searching through tens of threads, and it seems like everyone on this forum prefers the Truxedo Lo-Pro to everything else. I think the reason is that it works well with the Utili-Trac system, and others don't always.

So I've narrowed it down to either the Extang for $200 shipped or the Truxedo for about double that. Any input? I plan on keeping this truck forever so I want something to last (however I'm well aware that more money doesn't always mean better quality).

Thanks,
-Cyrus

A number of us has gotten the Truxedo Lo Pro from truckmod.com for aroud $335 shipped.

Here is a link to a thread on that discussion:

Truxcedo Lowprofile

Truxedo also has a lifetime warrantee.

I have one and am happy with it - now that it got it to work with my bed extender.

Good luck in your choice.

Just ordered Extang Tuff Tonno

Just ordered the Extang Tuff Tonno from www.truckaddons.com. Will meet price from any seller online. Like everyone else, did not want to spend allot of money and wanted a soft top that can be rolled up. Should be delivered tomorrow or Monday. Will post to let you know how it goes.

Cost, $197 free shipping.

Well I'm 75% sure I'm going to go with the Truxedo. I didn't know you could get so much off them, for $335 it may be worth the piece of mind so I never think I stinted on a $35k truck.

Truxedo

Truxedo Lo Pro from Truckmod.com was the one for me but to each their own preference for the many out there. Truckmod.com will beat any advertise price if you send them the link. I paid $399 for mine which included S&H and am very happy with it and with the service from Truckmod.com. If you buy from them talk to Dave, good luck on your choice.
