Navigation system

Is it possible to swap in the LE navigation sytem to my SE titan? If so, where do you get the parts, any changes or upgrades need to be made, how much $$.

Thanks

You can get a carputer & touchscreen monitor with a USB GPS receiver & software that will do a whole lot more for a whole lot less.

Is this equipment built-in like the current nav. system?

Some people have bought the OEM NAV screen bezel and mounted the touchscreen so it looks factory. The OEM NAV DVD player is mounted under the passenger seat and you could mount the carputer there if you didn't have OEM NAV.

I will try to find a link, it was posted recently.

O.K., I found it. Check out the photos in posts 8 & 19 in the following thread:

Starting my Truckputer project

Car Navigation

Crutchfield just did a review on the Eclipse AVN5435. It is a great unit and the installation is all contained, no external DVD player or navigation unit.

Check out the review here if you like:

The best thing for me is that I work for Fujitsu so I get this unit at 50% off retail.

that review failed to mention that the dvd functions are tricky and cumbersome. it just goes to show that some reviews are far from impartial. otherwise, the unit is great.

I have seen many nice aftermarket, clean, factory looking installs that in many ways are better. If you were to get the factory unit to enable full functionality of it's features may be very expensive and damn near impossible. I'm referring to the vehicle setup features and the fuel tracking functions. Having said that I would go for a mackdaddy, sweet aftermarket unit if I didn't have the factory unit.

I am not familiar with the details of the various OBDII cables & software, but you could get some vehicle info by using an OBDII cable + software + carputer.

Good point! I don't know if OBD will do door locks, auto-headlights etc but it should do the mileage stuff.
