Westin running boards too low

I just installed some Westin Sure-Grip running boards on my Titan. I think that the brackets are too long and result in the running boards being too low. I'm thinking of contacting the vendor or manufacturer. Do they seem too low in the attached picture?

I think they are have the same ground clearance as the OE nerf bars. Check the pic of my nerf bars below and compare it to yours.

Thats what I'm afraid they'll tell me. I think it looks okay for nerf bars to hand below the truck but I've never seen running boards with such a large gap from the lower body. Another thing is this picture on Westin's web site of a Nissan application is what I expected. Doesn't the picture appear as if there is no gap? I think my Titan looks horrible now.

Yeah, that's low. It should hug the rocker panel.

The box for the brackets does say it's for a Titan. Anyway, thanks for the replies, you've confirmed my feelings. I decided to contact Westin since it's not the vendor's fault as the box says it's for a Titan. I'll share the results.

Good luck. Westin sent me the wrong step tubes before, but I ordered through a vendor. The box had the right part number, but the part in the box was wrong. Westin wouldn't deal with me. I had to use the middle man (vendor). Needless to say, it was more involved than it needed to be. Total swap-out took 4 weeks. Hopefully this won't happen to you.

Westin's reply was that the wrong parts were put into an entire batch of boxes. Maybe this was the case with you.

Here's the update...

I contacted the technical group at Westin and got the design specs for the bracket. Unfortunately, the brackets appear to match the design specs. The kit comes with some rubbery plastic strips that the instructions say are optional. I thought the strips were for providing a seal between the boards and the body, but apparently they are intended to cover the gap. I'm very disapointed with the kit.

I'm thinking about having the brackets shorthened to raise the height of the boards and close up the gap. The main length of the brackets are a constant width, so I think that an inch could be cut out and the two ends welded together. Can someone recommend a type of shop for the work? Would an auto-body shop be good to do this?

Thanks

That sucks. Anyone with a MIG welder can hook you up, body shop, most machine shops, welding shops. Just look up welders on your google local pages. Shouldn't cost more than $15.
