Roof running/clearance lights

Does anyone have running lights/clearance lights on the roof of your Titan? I have been looking at them and once I get the truck lifted I was thinking about adding some. Also can anyone h=who has them or has a picture of a Titan with them, can you post some pictures?

Thanks

theres only one titan on here with clearance lights that i have seen. I'll see if I can find the picture. Ive wanted to do this as well, the only problem i see is that since you have to drill holes, i see the potential for the paint to flake and rust to show.

If you coated the holes with paint this should protect the area from rust, also the gasket that surrounds the light should keep most moister out I would think.

If you find that picture I would sure like to see it, I will hunt for it as well.

I have seen that truck on this forum many moons ago and I can't remember the subject of the thread it was on - it didn't have anything to do with those lights from what I remember. I'll see if I can remember and find it too.

You can also purchase one of those external visors that mounts above the winshield. They have optional clearance lights built-in.

Here is a link tha shows how to install the lights on a Ford truck. The install on a Titan would be similar.

Cab Clearance Lights....

I have ordered the GM style CCLs from JC Whitney and are awaiting their arrival. This is what they look like:

They are $77.99 plus s&h and the link is: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...D:100000202461

I will try to post some pics of the install as soon as the lights arrive and I find some time for the install. Thanks to squid and miserytom for their assistance in planning this mod.

The bare roof....

It took me a couple of hours working at a leisurely pace to get to this point:

The steps required to get to this point:

Unbolt and remove both rear seats (I have a KC)
Remove sill plates (they just pull up)
Remove rear seat belts
Remove rear side panels all the way up to the roof
Remove the latch protectors (for KC) up at roof level
Remove all handles in the roof
Remove both coat hangers
Remove A pillar trim
Remove sun visors (will need a Torx screwdriver for this)
Remove clips for sun visors
Remove overhead console
Remove overhead lamp
Start prying down the headliner (there are 4 clips/snaps at the very back) - you have to pull the door opening molding away from the headliner to let it down.
Headliner will come down to rest on driver/passenger seat backs - unplug wiring harness for overhead lights (2 plugs for XE) - then untape wiring from top of headliner - then you can take it out.

The only part that was a real PIA was the clips for the sun visors - it was not evident how those came out - I ended up breaking the tension tab on them holding them in - they may pop back in when I am done or I may have to go buy a couple.

I still haven't taken any pics of the interior yet post install. I will do that in a few days - I work 7on/7off and am waiting for my off week to finish tidying up and reinstalling the interior.

Re: Roof running/clearance lights

Nice pictures "wdavidsharp". Really suprise me to see so little supports up there given the size of our roof.

roof-running-clearance-lights-oklights.jpg

these lights look pretty sharp.

roof-running-clearance-lights-badtaste.jpg

these are mounted too close to the windshield. This owner obviously suffers from poor taste anyway.
