Westin isn't the only Bull Bar. Go to E-Bay, you'll find at least one or two more. The Westin skid plate attaches to your truck and Bull bar with screws and is definitely removable.
I also wanted to retain the stock skid plate and it's easy. Just do a search and you'll find a drawing a guy did that shows how you reverse the skid plate mounting bracket. This allows the use of both skid plates. I went a step further and drilled/tapped two holes into the factory plate, then screwed the bottom of the Westin plate to it with some stainless stell screws and lock washers. It's been in place for over 5000 miles and many offroad trips and works just fine.
Oh, one other thing. You'll need four, beefy, 1/2" (or 5/8") spacers. It comes with two that are just cross sections of galvanized fence post. They collapse when you torque down the bolts. You need two additional ones (total of 4) if you flip the brackets so that you can install both skid plates. I know this sounds confusing, but it's very clear once you begin the install.
I'm happy with my Westin. Well made, though I miss my tow points up front. I may remove it because of that unless I figure out a way to do both. It's possible, but would require a custom bracket. A local machine/welding shop should be able to fab one.
Regards,
John
