Bad Aluminum Dash Kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I am thinking a nice aluminum dash kit would look nice, except they are so damn expensive. I look on Ebay and wow I find a REAL aluminum dask kit with 32 pieces for around $67. I think great deal. so I buy it. Anyways, it is basically a sticker with aluminum foil. I put in on and thought what the hell am I doing this to my poor truck for? So I rip the crap off and now there is a bunch of residue on the dash. THIS SUCKS! Luckily I tried some Bug and Tar remover and It took it right off. Long story short-----------------

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check with JasonB over at CT, or check out his site www.*******industries.com . He sells a nice alum dash kit that people have been very happy with. Not sure on cost, but I hear it's very good quality.

Wow, lucky for me. I have a very good quality alluminum dash kit. I got tire of looking at it. I am thinking take it out and go with stock look. I don't think I want to take it off now. Too much work.

zachopp, what's about the plastic parts of the truck? Did you have the aluminum tape on them too? How do you clean the tape/glue residue off the plastic/rubber pieces.

I used GUNK brand Bug and Tar remover on all the dash and it worked really good, smelled like crap though. I think I am going to stay with the stock look too. It looked too cheap.

Dash kit was one of the mod I regret. Not %100 regret but I can use the $ for better mod. If I have to do it over again, I stay with stock. BTW, my alluminum kit is a high quality kit from a reputable vendor.

Painting the dash is so much nicer looking. I have been looking at everyones painted stuff and they look so awesome.

I bought some paint and stuff to test it out on my factory RF bezel piece and it turned out pretty good. I will probably paint mine as soon as it gets scratched up enough

wow that sucks lol

the ******* ones are a lot thicker than that lol ( they are real wood encased in laminate plastic--ie you can wash them down with no damage etc )

I have the first run of the ******* (although I think im going to take it off though)

one trick I learned is that if you have a blow dryer--heat up the piece first, which loosens the adhesive, and it will come off with far less residue

Spraying the tape side with alcohol as it lifts away is also helpful.
