Effects of lifts?

Wow, I haven't been on these forums since they first opened guys! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here who has experience with lift kits could enlighten me as to the effects I could expect from doing it myself. For example, what type of gas mileage decrease have you seen with different lift heights? Does it make the ride feel rough on/off the interstate. Stuff like that.....

I had mine installed

down side
turning is decreased a little
mpg=12.3 (I do have a heavy foot) use to get about 14 mpg
wife doesn't like to run and jump into the truck or fall out
feel bad about head lights blasting into peoples rear view mirror

UP side
bigger tires
bigger truck
bigger clearance
bigger bumps
bigger mud holes
bigger bigger bigger
I Love My Truck that much more
On the rear they installed an additional leaf spring (it rides a little stiffer) but I have carried more weight with them, 4-55gallon drums of product (approx weight 2000 lbs)

I've had several vehicles lifted 6" or so using "drop brackets" and will never do it again. Just too many nuances that drove me nuts. A mild lift that betters my suspension and uses quality components is the only thing I'll do now.

Yeah, and I'll observe my gas mileage go from 13.9 city to 6 like THAT.
