Since we are off topic, I fail to understand why anyone would want to ride something with such a crappy engine.

Would the Titan be a better vehicle if it also idled with that "potato-potato-potato-potato-potato-potato-potato-potato" sound of engineering prowess? Is there something about celebrating the stubborness of engineering a bad engine design and the anointing of back yard mechanics whose special gifts have brought carboration promise to all their followers?

In my opinion, the Harley experience is an illusion of a great product where in fact the religion or cult aspects of the movement are derived from those weekend rides to other far away places in search of someone to finally fix that dang bike.

As for the comradity with fellow riders which evolved from hanging out in dive bars while waiting for the bike to get fixed, the only bad boy image with Harley riders comes from pissed off drunk riders whose relentless journey out to new places in search of the divine master eventually bankrupt themselves from endless repairs to the degree where the only score to be had are fat chicks, thus coining the beloved term "hog".

But to those who persevere and connect with the divine master whose mystical powers make that hog run, to the rider of the promise of some cash in pocket and impressing some babe to ride along is all dependant on how long that "hog" keeps running.

MuskyHunter you obviously do not have a clue about what your talkin about or harleys. I have owned and riden shovels, elolutions and now a fathead. I have not had any problems and logged well over 200,000 miles. Old harleys were crap but with the modern engineering they are next to flawless.

I was hoping some would see the intended sarcastic humor which does bear some historical truth with some of the guys I grew up and rode with.

Having grown up a few blocks away from the CC Rider club shop most of my young life now turned to Harley dealership, and currently having a distant family relationship with Steve (Doc) Hopkins and the Harley drag racing influence in the inner family circles, I will say that I have had more than enough exposure to Harley's and the evolution of the product in my lifetime. In the interest of civility, lets just say that a Harley is an acquired taste for some, and others not.

In short, for the technology that is available, there is much to be said about applying those innovations to develop a highly refined, responsive and balanced motorcycle, one that pushes past engineering limits and raise the bar to excellence, and there is something to be said in celebrating tradition.

Motorcycle preferences aside, since when is a Japanese manufacturered cruiser considered an "imitation Harley"? Is it because it has chrome and loud exhaust? Does that make Buells and the VRod "imitation Hondas/Yammys/Kawasakis"? That's interesting, because I would have considered all of the above simply as sportbikes and a sportcruiser. Maybe that's just me.

However...if the Japanese cruisers are supposedly imitating Harleys simply because the Harley was produced first, sounds like we should also consider our Titans "imitation F-150s/Rams/1500s"!

I've got a Jap bike, Yamaha Royal Star Venture and it pulls away from those road kings and ultra classics all day long. Even with my trailer on they can't touch the Grey Goose. Plus instead of the pat on the back I got a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty on it. I'm a huge bike fan and they all have their pros and cons of course. Wooo Hoooo ride on.
