In the excessively liberal Bay Area, you need a permit to have a watergun with the Propisition that just passed
Yea the only people with guns in San Fran now are the bad guys who care nothing about that stupid law! If I was a theaf or burglar I would wait maybe 2 months and then EVERY house is my domain. "AAHHHH poor home owner dont have a gun?" I DOOOOO! Watch the crime get worse and the muder rate increase. I'll be watching the news thats for sure. They have no idea what they have done to their constitutional rights over there. This is almost as bad as Oregon voting for statewide health care. Oh that would have gone over good hu? Talk about taxes and people leaving that state in droves. I think I would live in OR and work in WA! Free ride along with everyone else doing it. I'm done guys, Sorry vent time.

It would likely be the same here in PA. Plus in FL they just passed the new law that doesn't require you to flee. I would probably do something under the seat if I was that worried about it. Mostly the center console is fine for my needs when the hip gets uncomfortable.
It has to be concealed in FL if you have a permit. If you don't, you can keep it in a glove box loaded.
790.25 (5)(5) Lawful Ownership, Possession, and Use of Firearms and Other Weapons
It is not necessary to have a license or permit to carry a loaded firearm in a private vehicle, so long as the gun is "securely encased". Florida law defines a weapon as being securely encased if the firearm is in a glove compartment, whether or not locked, in a snapped holster (not worn on your body!), in a zippered gun case or in a box or other container that requires a lid or cover to be lifted or opened in order to gain access to the firearm. These restrictions do not apply to any person who holds a valid Florida Concealed Weapon License or a reciprocal state license/permit.
Use of deadly force statute.
And the "stand your ground" statute basically says:
Quote:
Gone will be "the duty to retreat" from potentially bloody confrontations that's now built into Florida's criminal justice statutes. Instead, the law will recognize that everyone has "the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force" if they reasonably believe it's necessary to avoid death or serious injury.
So, now that this has been in effect for over a month, where's all the dead tourists? BTW, the Brady people were in Florida airports like Hare Krisnas passing out pamphlets warning tourists not to get in an arguement or they may be shot. Give me a break.
I carry a kahr PM9 and keep a keltec p3at in the truck for just in case I forget my pm9.
I would never consider putting a gun in plain site like that. Your asking for trouble with the gun there.
If I was that paranoid that I needed a gun right there when driving I would move to a different area.
I agree that location on the console is way too visible.
PM-9 is a real nice carry piece. I sold a Glock 26 and bought one too.
When it's not concealed, I just lay it down in the drivers side door pocket in an Uncle Mikes soft holster. Very accessible and not visible to anyone looking into the truck in the event I forget it's there, however unlikely that is.
I all seriousness I also keep a pistol in a soft holster in the door when not concealed. Triple Black is dead on about the Florida gun laws and you sure can't leave a firearm in plain sight.

its actually not that visable while driving, your leg blocks most of it, and you can also adjust the angle of it, you could level it out and you wouldnt be able to see it, it also comes with a shorter arm that the holster connects to, to lower it down another 2 in.
thats the nice think about this set up, is there are several different ways to set it up once it has been mounted. the holster moves degrees and the arm also moves 360 degrees. you can have it upside down about 2 inches from the floor or as high as the gear shift. the way i have it is just one way.

I wouldn't be concerned about how visible it was while driving, but how visible it was while I wasn't around. I don't leave my pistol in the truck, but if I somehow forgot, it's not visible to anyone looking in the window.

Getting my gun out of the truck is second nature much like getting your keys out.
