I consider the consequences of such things for the same reason I keep the muzzle pointed in the safe direction even when I know the gun is not loaded.
If people were perfect, nobody would ever have a negligent discharge. Being overconfident that you're not going to screw up is setting yourself up for problems.
There is no way anyone can rationalize to me that a visible mount in a vehicle is a good idea.
A visible firearm mount is a great idea if you want to be arrested for brandishing a firearm or better yet shot by a trigger happy cop in a traffic stop.

To dig this one out of the dead and address something:
A muzzle loader is most definitely a firearm. Most states specify a firearm as a weapon that propells a projectile by the force of "exploding gases" or "expanding gases" in some states. A muzzle loader most definitely fits that description.

I have a glock .44 and I find that it fits in the slit where your holster is fine without a holster or anything.
You're correct, of course. A muzzle loader is a firearm, in all states. It's just that they don't undergo the same scrutiny from the BATF&E as do the cartridge guns.
And as long as you dug it up, I'll add this. The dude quoted above owns the only Glock ever produced in that chambering. I'd hang on to it if'n it was mine.
yes, here in ct u dont have to have a permitt for a black powder muzzle loading percussion, flint or meso-lock (thin hemp roap smoldering ****ed into a pile of black powder) gun, but if you go over into ny you can get arrested if there found on u without proof.
That's nice but way too obvious.. I've thought about keeping a gun in the truck but what if it gets stolen? i will have to waste my time dealing with procedure.
I just keep it on me if i carry. But seriously, that is pretty obvious. It screams "break my window and steal me"

Diggen from the graves lol, i think a couple people were confused to the purpose of this.
this was for quick access when im traveling at night, or just when you get that feeling, Its right there if you need it. no fumbling around in the console.
It is not for overnight storage, if i stop and leave my truck i will just put it in the console, and when i get home it goes in with me like my wallet.

I`m with you ST.....My weapon is with me where ever i go or i don`t go there... I have different weapons for different occasions...I guess you could call it designer carry for me.....
Anyone who would leave their weapon in a place like that deserves to have the window busted out and weapon stolen or even the truck.....It is all common sense...
Firefighters, medical personnel and the police agree 100 percent "that it will never kill a person," Fourie asserted. "This is definitely non-lethal.... A person is not going to stand there for a minute while you roast him. It will fend off the attacker, and that's the end of it."

lmao a Flame thrower instead of a gun.
BS
Tell that to all the 1000's of Japanese killed by the USMC using flamethrowers in the Pacific War...specifically on Mt. Surabachi.
