Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

Wow, if those are 6,000k's I'm really glad I didn't get the 8,000. It almost makes the S2000 look like it has incandescent lighting. The S2000 looks like it is 4500 or 5000 in temperature.

Are you sure your bulbs are installed in there the right way? If one is dimmer, send the picture of it back to the JDM guy, he should swap you. You also might check to make sure it is the bulb and not the ballast..

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

I'm sure it's dimmer. I've already sent an email to the vendor. In the meanwhile I will swap sides and see if it still is there.

what is a wrong way of doing it?

Rcantu-I had a problem like your's-installed wrong.

I had a problem something like your's.The light was brighter on one side, and there were clear shadows in the light cone-beam.It turned out that I had managed to put the bulbs in "wrong" The ceramic post has to end up at 6 oclock-the glass has to end up at 12.If they don't they will be ****eyed, and the light beam will have shadows in it.
Normally you can't put bulbs in wrong-you can't fit the 3 tabs into the indexing slots-but with these I did. They felt "right" went in ,twisted, locked home-but they weren't right.Once I correct this-with help from these folks here-they worked great-very nice light beam.Luck,Charlie PS Don't do this sort of work at night like I did.I also had a heck of a time getting my hands through the splash shield, but that is another story.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

this 7 page post about the JDM HID's got me thinking until rcantu reminded me of how great projector HID cutoffs are. i think i'll wait until someone designs a high quality projector housing and i'll drop some HID's in those. they look good though, guys, and you guys are really gonna enjoy them!

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

I installed mine today and they sure are bright! Just a quick question...How does everyone's bulbs fit in the housing? Are they a tad loose? Mine are installed correctly, the ceramic post is facing down and still seem a little loose compared to a 9006 bulb.

Hmmm. I think what you are experincing there is not so much the cutoff is the height of the Titan compared to the S2000. A more fair compairson would be to raise the S2000 to the exact same height as the Titan's bulbs. No matter what the housing design you put on the Titan, it still requires a sharper pitch for cutoff than a S2000 which sits very low to the ground.
As you draw back further away you should move outside of this pitch.

I've noticed when I drive my Titan with the HID's if I am stopped behind a Ford Taurus. There will be almost NO direct light on the driver, or any part of the car above his trunk. I found the Cut off very good. I will post a A/b comparision tomorrow against my Acura TL. I have no idea how it will turn out, but will post it here.

NICE RIMS BTW

This one was from a bit of an angle and about 15 feet back. Yours was a lot closer? My cutt off is very distinct, it is dark above it. No strange glow shadow.

do you see how sharp the cutoff for the s2000 is? it is nearly a straight line! the only thing preventing it from being a straight line all the way across is the projector is designed to slope the left side of the beam of light down so that it doesn't get in the eyes of oncoming drivers. the japanese s2000 headlights slope on the other side because they drive on the other side of the road.

the titan's headlights may not blind people but it is far from having a cutoff like the s2000.

We only have a front on picture of the S2000.. Not it's cast.. I'm sure it is BETTER.. I agree with you to some degree. But From standing in front of the vehicles it is an unfair comparison, because of the vehicle height difference, and in the exposure, the Titan lights are so much better that they start oversaturating the photograph, loosing detail in the vicinity of the Titan headlight, long before the S2000 gets oversaturated.

I'm going to setup an experiement with my Acura-TL tonite, and get the cast on a white wall at various differences. Which will either prove me wrong or right..

Here is what I think is going on in that photograph.

The diffused type lighting exist on both housings, this is what lights up street signs and stuff that sits above the cut off line. It's the same as standing next to a SPOT Light, you can be lluminated by it and not blinded, as long as you don't stand in the beam.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

Driving the 05 Acura-TL, I couldn't stand the Nissan Titan's headlights. They
are just so DIM stock. I love it now. But it doesn't compare with the Acura's projector headlamps with a motorized iris! There is an amazing cut off. The Titan has a cut off but it has a lot of light drift.. The bulk of the light is still below other drivers eyes, I don't get flashed, so I still stand by them. But WOW I didn't know how much of a difference the ACURA has. The Acura also has an amazing beam spread from far far left to far far right. It is much better than the 02 Acura TL-S it replaced.

The pattern on the Acura is far superior. The photograph was taken from exactly 32 feet away, with Camera settings of 1/8th second, Fstop 2.8 and ISO 100. The color difference is accurate. I like the 6000's better. I will post another picture from a 95 Del Sol with Halogen's at the same door from the same distance tomorrow night. If some around Frisco wants to bring there stock Titan I can take a picture of the same scenario with that one as well.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

it's weird that every one of your pics show the JDM 6000k at white while mine are blue. my pics are pretty accurate too.

JDM emailed me and said I can exchange the part I think is defective but I have to give them a money order for $15. I will just live with it or sell on my own...who knows.
