Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

I'm going to install a set for Ray05Titan, when I do, I will take a set of Install Pix. If anyone else in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area wants help with install let me know. Perhaps we could have a mini-meet for a group install. Or if anyone wants to see what they look like in person, drop me a PM

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

On my DHL tracking number it didn't really update until the day of delivery. DHL's tracking isn't up to snuff like FedEx.

Ant05's coupon:

Just bought the JDM HIDs off eBay.

Use the coupon code in Paypal: C1-Holiday2005 for 10% off up to $25

I got them for $255 instead of $280.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

Isn't this technically illegal? I thought DOT only allowed for engineered HID solutions?

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

Technically yes. If you have a problem with driving 56 in a 55, or removing the tags from pillowcases. Utilizing the 6000ks or 8000k's probably isn't going to attact a lot of heat. The Titan has a nice diffuser so the light doesn't kill the oncoming driver, it is all reflected and aimed, like other vehicles that utilize HID from the factory.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

I don't think it would stop me if I wanted them, just wanted to make people aware. I hardly ever do any driving outside my immediate urban area anyways and it's very well lit at night.

Re: JDM HID for Titan Review

They are rated at greater than 3000 hours

So if you don't drive around with them on in the day time

If you average 15,000 miles a year on your Titan
and drove 5,000 of your miles at night,
at an average of 45 mph
You would use your bulbs 111 hours in a year.

At that rate they would last 27 years.

I think HID's dim gradually over time. So you probably want to bail
on them after about 15 years or so.

HID type bulbs are typically supposed to last between 500 and 5000 hours
but speciality type applications have the bulbs lasting 50,000 hours or five and
a half years!

Not to much you can do about it. Put some yellow fog light bulbs in and look like you are doing it intentionally. Spend more $ and get a matching HID set for the fogs. You can reduce the difference and get Silverstars, but even that is yellowish in comparison. It doesn't bother me, I run both at night to get all the light I can. No problem on putting them in, if we hook up again at another meet.
