Need a better shock for bed shake

I have had my truck into the dealer on a number of occasions to try and figure out why the bed shakes when going over bumps and frost heaves. We have confirmed that all bed mounting bolts are tight as well as all other bolts that are part of the rear suspension.

While the problem has subsided somewhat over time, the problem still exists, mostly when driving between 20-40 mph than with highway driving. The bed shake seems to be a characteristic of the Titan and the dealer has not been able to come up with a solution. I have been advised that Nissan engineers are well aware of the problem.

I have used spring clamps to clamp the front part of the short leaf which helped control some of the shake, but the ride is too firm and causes a front to back oscillation when going over heaved expansion joints, especially when towing.

What I would like to investigate is a shock absorber solution which offers better damping to control the unsprung weight in the rear. While lighter wheels and tires would help reduce some of that weight, that is not an option at this time. I also don't want to go in the direction of adding the helper spring mod that a number of people have done.

The question here is what shock is going to provide me the same ride comfort that I currently enjoy, yet have the ability to properly dampen the excessive wheel movement when going over these kind of roads?

I have used Trek Master by Tokico for my wife's Nissan Hardbody, but causes her truck to hop and loose traction in corners but not sure how well they would do on a larger truck. I have also used Monroe on my old GMC and the were okay. I do not have experience with Bilstein on a truck, but on my RX7 they were very harsh.

Any thoughts on a shock to address the bed shake problem? My truck is not driven off road and off road shocks wouldn't seem appropriate.

Thanks a bunch.

Re: Need a better shock for bed shake

Bed shake is normal on a pickup.I have noticed a little more with the titan than other trucks, but the beds on a pickup need to flex.
