Banks Monster/K&N intake

Had the Banks Monster exhaust and the K&N cold air intake stage II installed yesterday. Got to run around a little bit and try them out. The Banks is a little loud in the cabin, I am getting use to it. These two combined really work well. No Dyno but the seat of the pants estimate is AWESOME ! Installed for about $1000.00 total. Happy Holidays!

Re: Banks Monster/K&N intake

I have the Banks and AFE Stage II in the Titan, a very similar setup. It does seem the exhaust is slightly louder in the cab, but I agree they work very well together in terms of performance.

I've got about 10,000 miles with this combination and it doesn't get any quieter...

When I get on the gas all I hear is the K&N FIPK. When I'm driving around under normal driving conditions, the exhaust is all I hear. One of these days, just for kicks, I'll have to let a friend drive it while I stand outside. I'm curious what 0-60 sounds like from outside the truck.

I've had the Banks on for awhile now and yeah it's pretty loud. I've gotten use to it though. I want to add an intake one of these days so are you saying that the FIPK is also pretty loud? What type of noise does it make that is louder then the Banks?

There is a slight sucking sound but mostly it is engine noise. Because the stock intake resonator is removed/replaced with the intake tube there is nothing to quiet the engine noise that comes out of the intake manifold. Basically, it sounds like your engine when you stamp on the gas, multiplied by 10. It's only obnoxious when you mash the pedal down. When you drive normal, it's pretty close to stock.

Don't get me wrong, I can hear the Banks when I get on it but the intake is more noticeable to me. Probably because intake is right in front of the driver.

Here's a shameless plug for a great TT sponsor...Check out Courtesy Parts. They sell them for $256.

Re: Banks Monster/K&N intake

I put an AEM intake on first, no sounds except at WOT, than you hear sound of air swooshing in. I added the Banks about a month later and the two seems to work good together. I also replaces my Banks tip with a Zoomers tip and everyday city driving is more tolerable. It's still roar when you step on it or at start up but I just couldn't take that drone.

Re: Banks Monster/K&N intake

I put the 77-series K&N FIPK first. The intake was definetly 10 times louder. Then I put on JBA headers and the JBA EVO cat-back which had the cross over pipe and everything the Banks has. Mine is loud but tolerable. By your descriptions JBA sounds like it is a bit better on the sound. All together it cost me $1200 installed for the header, exhaust, and K&N.
