I was wondering who you thought made the best remote start for our Titans (who has the best kit) I would love to be able to keep the Nissan key fob but I know thats probably not possible. I only want remote start and keyless entry, I don't need an alarm.
I don't know why this isn't a factory option by now.
There is one called "Search".....That has many opinions.....

I am planning on doing the remote start with factory remote. I think this is the best one that will work with factory. You can also search the forum there is alot of threads about this.

I have an AstoStart and it works fine. When it is installed, you will need to give them your valet key because of the transponder chip. You can't use your factory remote because you will have no range, you would have to walk close to the vehicle to start it, kinda defeats the purpose.
The DEI looks like a cool setup that allows you to do what I want. And you can get both parts for about 100 bucks. I am going to do some more research on installation and where to order one.
I got the prestige 2 way remote start/alarm. The range is great. Yomama uses his thru his cell phone.
I put it in myself. Total cost was $150 ($125 for the prestige 996a, and $25 for the immobalizer bypass) A friend and I did it together last saturday. Neither of us had done one before and it took us 20 hours, just because we had no idea where to find any of the wires.
Now I have a 2way remote pager that lets me know when my door is ajar, tailgate down, hood open, if anyone doored my car and has an additional alarm. I am very pleased.

Its worked great for me...I like it! A year with it now and no problems...
Store on Ebay for a crimestopper RS900VII another $19.00 for the transponder bypass kit.
I've used on on my other vehicles with great success. I just ordered one (and it just came today) for the Titan. Not sure when I'll get a chance to install it. If you are only going to use the factory remote, look at the rest of his store. I think there is one that doesn't include the remotes or keyless entry. It's just the remote start to be added to the factory system.
20 HOURS! wow! Are the instructions very detailed? I'd be willing to pay for an install if it had some sort of guarantee before I'd take 20 hours to do it! No offense Grunge
Notice Grunge didn't say how many of those were beer hours...heh heh

I have done some research on the Audiovox 996a. I see that you can buy the alarm (996a) or just a remote start module (ASPTUGM). Then you add the TL-100 module to add phone activated remote start. My question to you is, how do you use the phone, to connect to it? Do you dial an 800 number and enter a pin number?? I saw it said lifetime unlimited connections. Did you also have to guy a bypass module too? I don't see that listed online. The audiovox page sux!!

Hey t22a80,
The TL-100 plugs directly into the main box, the TL-100 is velcroed to the top of my head unit to give it the best line of site. I dial an 800 #, enter my subscriber number, a pin number and then issue the command I want. Pretty darn cool, it does not work 100% of the time, not sure why, but seems to work about 95%, so I can live with that. Yes you need the bypass module, I picked up mine used on this site.
I grin everytime my bus pulls in and my truck is sitting there running, windows defrosted. The others get off the bus, start there vehicles and then scrap windows, me I get in, put my key in the ignition and take off......
There are others on my bus that have the normal type remote starters and they start them when the bus pulls in before they get off the bus, which lets their vehicle run for about 30 seconds before they get to it.

That sounds like a pretty neat system. You said you mounted it on top of your "head unit" Do you mean on your dash for better reception? I'm not sure how many times I'd use the phone option since I'm never usually that far from my truck but it would be cool to have the option. It looks like its free for the price of the unit. I've found them online for around 70 bucks. Do you have to buy it from an authorized dealer or does it matter? Did you install your system yourself? How difficult was it. I've installed a lot of car stereo stuff but never a starter. I'd probably buy just the starter option (ASPTUGM) not the alarm system too. I'm not sure if that would be simpler than the complete system or not.
Sorry for all the questions, I just like to know what I'm getting into.
