Re: remote start help

from the factory, xe's should not have the immobilizer chip in the keys and therefore will not need a bypass unit. however, crewcabs with the preferred package will include this and you will need the bypass. if it's a king cab, it won't matter either way apparently. i got this from nissan's website just now so i do not know if this applies to previous years. a good indicator is a blinking key/immobilizer symbol on the gauge cluster.

Let me know how that goes. I was thinking about attempting this but feared I'd never be able to start my truck again. A step by step would be great for the rest of us if you don't mind..which wires, location of wires, etc.

There is a thread here that I used to install mine, it has every wire color, location, and function that you will need to do a remote start/security system.

Re: remote start help

what type of price does this cost, doing it yourself. Does the dei kit kill the engine once the brake petal is pushed and the key is not in the ignition?
