believe it or not my truck starts by remote control now. added a relay and it started right up. as i used to install alarms and stereos when i was in high school (15 years ago) this remote start kicked my a$$. my brain doesn't function well reading instructions, after looking at the pics and diagrams from everyone that helped it finally fell into place. if you attempt to do this yourself take the dash completely apart it is alot easier to get to wires with a soldering iron. thank you everyone that contributed to this project and one last piece of advice, wait til you get done before you drink the beer it doesn't help during the install at all. you can't throw pliers as far after you've been drinking.
Hey all, so far this info has been excellent and great start to prepare for my Remote start install. I got the DEI 561r and the proper bypass module. However I did run into a couple of questions. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
1) I see the manual reccommends no T-Taps etc for the heavy guage wires, but how about for the smaller wires, no good??
2) For the Tach tap, do I just hit any of the wires under the hood, doesn't matter which one so long as it is not the White/Blue or Black wire, but the 3rd? And if thats the case of course Ill be needing to add wire to that lead off of the remote start brain.
3) For the door lock tap I will need to add wire also and run through the door jamb, the Remote start has a "Door Locks" wire (2) and (2) wires for Factory Alarm rearm and disarm.... Do all 4 of those wires tie in at the door lock module behind the door?
4) Last did anyone install the On/Off toggle switch, to shut the system off? And if so how, there is nothing about it in the manual.
Any help is MUCH!! Appreciated, as I prefer to do it myself, Ive done stereo installs for 10 years, and an alarm in my Camaro ohhh about 12 years ago, so when it comes to this alarm/remote stuff im a tad rusty.
I provided the quick reference guide from my manaul, If anyone could be so kind to tell me which wires im going to be using and/or not using I would be very appreciative!! Thanks in advance.

1. I'd solder all of them, but it's personal pref.
2. True
3. Factory Arm and Disarm are outputs, yes? You shoulld be able to tie those wires back. I may be wrong, but the DEI, like most other r/s's is programmed to lock the doors after starting, which will arm the Titan alarm anyways.
4. Prob a good idea, in case the r/s malfunctions.
Breeze thru this thread. Guys have put a lot of good info in here.
be sure you get the corect wire on the brake pedal also. that was one of my mistakes, the system will give you an error code of -/+ if this is done wrong. put the 30amp relay in also between the two starter wires. not sure if it helped or it was just the brake wire that was wrong, but it made me feel better when the truck finally started.
the tach tap i used was closest to the fire wall on the drivers side if that helps.

Ok thanks for the help, now I see alot of wires coming off of this DEI module seem like they wont be used?
And also what is the best method when doing the soldering, peeling back the insulation on the main wire, then wrapping the wire from the DEI module around it, solder then tape?
It also seems as though you will want to mount the main unit in a place that is easily accessible as to you need to view the Status LED for programming etc.?

WELL u will want to program it when u have all the panels off so when ur done programming u can hide it and place/mount it in a way where its not easily accessed for robbers and such...
at least thats what I did...I posted a pic on where I installed up by the speedometer...

How can you reach the button to diable it? It's important to diable it when it's in for service or if a valet has the truck.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.
Well mine has a switch with extra wire for disabling it (toggle switch) however the directions show nothing at all about how to install it or what wires to put it between etc. So gonna have to check DEI website.
I do have a wire on the DEI im not sure of : (for now!)
(1) Purple - 200mA second starter turn ON (Do I use this to hookup to the second starter wire in the main cluster on the Titan?)
look at page 17 in the manual. first line under remote start harmess. has to do with over ride switch
Bingo! Thanks, been reading this damn manual too long, now just gotta find out about this door lock tap for sure and the purple wire on the DEI for 2nd starter.... and I should be good to go for this wknd! Thanks for all the help everyone!!

hopefully u understood my instructions on those doorlock questions...if not go ahead and post here and we can help ya...and clint, the modules come with a pushbutton switch u can wire for easy access...

I don't think you need to hook up the purple wire. It sounds like it would be used to power a relay to turn on something during the start if you needed it, which you don't.
All of the wires that say "200ma" mean that they supply a low current signal to activate a small relay or something if you needed that functionality. You don't want to hook them up to anything that draws any more than 200ma of current or you will damage the remote start unit.

Ok Thanks, I got it now CTTItan, and yes Im still a bit unsure on the doorlock modules as the one post says you can damage your doorlock module by tapping it at the BCM and not tapping it at the door itself.
Also then being that the Purple wire is not used, im not so sure where and how I go about using the 2nd starter wire from the main Nissan plug and where it goes on my DEI unit? Do I need that relay like LoudTitan did or, what, I read a bunch of debate a few pages back if it was actually need or not? Argghhh... Im getting there.. thanks again.!
