Re: remote start help101 needed please

You will need the DEI 556U unit also for the immobilizer bypass. It does require that a key is installed in the box (use the valet key). It interfaces directly to the remote start unit, so it only will bypass when the remote start is active.

i have a brand new one for sale. i'll give you a fair price. pm me.

Does the remote start feature require a separate transponder to bypass the immobilizer?
yes

Quote:
Do you need to permanently mount one of the keys on a transponder bypass?
yes. if that freaks you out, you can either grind down one of your keys or purchase a new key from the dealership and have them program it but not cut the key.

Quote:
Does this disable the vehicle's immobilizer system (able to start w/ standard key)?
it only disables the immobilizer system during remote start. at all other times, the immobilizer functions normally.

Re: remote start help101 needed please

pop out the rubber flex then you can just push the wire through easily. when done pop it back in. I did that for all 4 doors to run speaker wire.

Thanks, that's what I did. Pop both sides to between the doors. Use old flexible antenna to stuff up through there, tape on wires and pull. That sucked. Hardest part of the whole install for me at least. The rest was cake!

Re: remote start help101 needed please

Adding some photos to this already good thread.

Photo with the green arrow shows where the ign harness wraps up behind the guage cluster. Much easier to get at it here. The other photo shows after I connected the starter wires.

Looking at your diagram it looks like you didnt hook up the brake shut down, is that the feature that shuts down the car if the brake pedal is pressed with out the real key in it? If so why didnt you hook it up. Also with your setup does the horn sound and the lights flash when you lock the car, and did you retain the option to hold the unlock button down and roll the windows down?

Thanks
Patrick

Re: remote start help101 needed please

Hey how do you take the door apart? Is it all on clamps or is there something tricky? I unscrewed the panel behind the handle but that's about it. I can't figure anything else out.

I just read this last post, and not the rest of this thread but I installed my remote start and didn't have to take the door apart. Why do you need the door apart?
