So far my experience with Glassworks hood has not been so good. I had it shipped straight to the body shop and they wanted to pre-fit it to make sure all fits well. It does not fit well, at least 1/4" too high on drivers windshield corner and almost a half inch too high on the passengers side corner by the windshield. The body shop adjusted and took out the stops and that helped a bit. They asked if they could grind it down by the hinge but...

"NO returns or exchanges on Cut, Drilled, Painted or modified parts. ALL returns are subject to inspections before accepting returns. ALL refunds are issued 60 days after returns are accepted. NO refunds on shipping or handling charges. ALL returns must be sent "Pre Paid" NO exceptions. ALL damaged parts must be addressed to the shipping company and a claim must be filed with the shipping company. NO returns on special orders. NO EXCEPTIONS."
So I had the body shop contact them abount grinding on it and that is what Glassworks suggested, in fact the guy on the phone said he had to grind his down on his truck. They got the drivers side flush, but the passenger side is still almost 1/4" too high and its ground down almost to the aluminum (Hope that won't cause a problem later. Now they are going to "try" some things to get it flush. Like grinding on my factory hinge, take out the hinge wedge a block in the corner and hit it with a sledge to try and lower the bracket. I told them to grind on the hood as FAR as possible without damaging it, but the guys at the shop all agreed it would not be enough. They also showed me all the prep work they would need to do in order to get it ready for paint. All the edges have small pin holes from the mold I guess and I expected a little better product as far as ready to paint & bolt on. Also it seems like the thickness varys and is not real consistent. The guys at the shop had a great attitude and were willing to try some things to get a proper fit; I asked them not to try the sledge hammer thing in case I want to put the factory hood back on. I am probably going to pay more in labor for fitment than I did for the hood. Even the truck on Glassworks web site does not look completly even, now that I look reeeeaaaal close. If mine is not even I will get rid of it. Little stuff like that drives me crazy, and I will constantly look at it.
Another quote:
"Hand laid fiberglass

We guarantee that all our products fit better and look better than our competitors."
Not so sure of the above statement, but maybe they have no competitors? I really want it to come out nice, I hope the guys at the body shop can get it to where i will be happy with it.
Why did you get the hood. Is it a functional scoop?
I wanted the hood for the same reason guys want different rims, or different taillights, or whatever. It looks custom, gives a different look to the truck. Are chrome rims functional over black rims? Is a custom paint job fuctional? I like the hood, thought it would be different, have not seen one on the street in Ohio. Figured there would be a little prep work involved, not several hours or days.

I hear ya man...there was much discussion about "functional" hoodscoops a while back...who cares, it looks great (and I won't even get into the fact for a ram air hood to be functional, you need to be doing like 200mph, but I digress). Sorry to hear about the problems though. I've been debating on getting one for a while but was waiting until Keystone came out with something. I've heard of fitment problems with them too but all that was required was grinding on the hood...not the hinge etc. Hope it works out for ya!

so I was never getting more HP from my WS6 ram air I guess...

Nope, not in my opinion. I'll get 50 guys who argue it and another 50 who'll agree. You get "cooler/denser" air (it's a great source of cool air if you can design it to avoid the debris/water etc getting down there with it), but the actual "ram air" principle plays little role in making power unless it's at extreme speed...been discussed at length. There was an article about it posted somewhere but I can't remeber whether it was here or somewhere else.
Bottom line is the "Ram" part of the equation is very small.

well actually thats true...I noticed a lot more power after 55...still quarter mile speeds are 100+ so Im sure we got some good hp out of it...oh well...

Yeah I guess it's just the term "ram-air" that bugs me. I'd have no problem if they called it a "cold-air" hood. One of those things that just gets under my skin for some reason. Regardless, the WS6 is a sweet ride though!
Was your original hood damaged in some way? If not, what are you gonna do with it. If you're not gonna use it to sled down snow covered hills, I wouldn't mind having it. Anything for a friend, for a fee....right?

A tree limb fell across mine.
Thanks,
KAP
The body shop called and said they got it to fit, they also have to grind on the hood where it hits the cowl (by the windshield) and also had to do "some body work" in order to get it to fit right.
Do not want to see the bill and did not ask about "body work". The factory hood I am going to keep around in case I hit a deer or a tree limb falls on the glassworks hood. I know why they are called "Glassworks"... it takes alot of WORK to get that GLASS to fit!
