wow! that looks prety good for the money. i think i might go ahead and buy that bull bar. that looks good with that on black. i have a 05 red alert. but i have the painted front bumper. i think the stainless will break it up and make it stand out alot. .
Looks, place to mount driving lights, decent skid plate (for those of us without the OR package). Those are the reasons to buy this.
Reasons not to: looks (to each his own, ) makes truck a wee bit longer and a wee bit harder to park, in an accident it may (probably?) will cause more harm then good.

Unless your a serious off roader, i guess people install these for the look. Like u said, to each his own, and I dont think they look bad, but since there is really no other use, and considering the extra weight will drag down your gas mileage, I never cared for them.
I just installed step bars on my titan, and they were a lot heavier than i expected, but i justify them because i can reach the top of the cab for washing truck and inspecting for bird droppings on my paint job.
Is it strictly because you like the looks, or is there some practical purpose for these things?
To answer in a word, "LIGHT". Here in PA, we have a lot of mountains, trails, long driveways, DEER, and other nighttime critters. When I visit my inlaws or Dad, I travel lots of back roads winding through the woods and completely unlit areas where lots of deer roam around. I am also not getting younger and as we age, our night vision wanes. I've only hit one in my entire driving carreer (knock on wood) but I know exactly what it can do to a vehicle. If I can see them before we accidentally meet, I'm ahead of the game (and the insurance agents!) That's also why I opted for the Lightforce lights as well. They shine further and brighter than most others. More expensive, but worth it IMO.
looks good but I would be afraid some idiot who can't park bump into the lights. can you recess them back flush to the car?
I can reverse the mounts but I don't think the back of the light casing will clear the front bumper. It's difficult with the bar mounted on the truck. When I first mounted them, I had the bases reversed from the way they are now (as you suggest). But the back has a bump on it that pointed the lights down at about a 15 degree angle from horizontal by hitting the bumper. I had to unmount the bar and switch them and they cleared, but they stick out more now.
Lightforce has two options for mounting: a flatter horizontal mount like on my lights, or a vertical mount where the foot stands up. It lifts the lights about 1 1/4" and they may not fit inside the two horizontal bars on many bull bars, so I opted for the lower profile mount.

looks good though. now just make all the lights HID! talk about bright.
You need to check out the Lightforce website. They have 240mm HID units. Proclaimed as the brightest in the industry! Close to $1G for a set, though! I can do a lot more mods for the change I got back from $1000.00!
