street scene grille install HELP

alright ive already removed the entire grille from the truck and now the instructions say to "depress the points arrowed and separate the outer grille from the inner grille." now there are about 20 tabs that hold the inner grille and outer grille together. i have had no success trying to disconnect all these tabs. is there anybody who has done this, and how? btw, im sure it doesnt matter but i have an '06....

thanks...

Re: grille trick?

Damn, I thought this was something new about grill'n steaks or ribs...

Here is an oldie but goodie... You are going to have to deal with all of those tabs with a screwdriver. Then you'll need to cut to old grille from the inside out. this attachment will show you the steps. Be real careful with all of those little tabs, They fall out real easy when putting the fascia back on.

Grille installation

Good Luck

Re: grille trick?

now you are talking about the tabs that hold the inner grille to the outer grille right? not the clips that hold the entire grille to the truck. and what's this about cutting?

Re: grille trick?

You have to take the entire fascia off to replace your grille. There are two large clips along the top on each side. You'll need to pop those off. Then there are a bunch of those smaller clips that you do a 1/4 turn to get them out of there holes. The entire front fascia, which includes both your chrome and Honeycomb grille will come off. If your new grille is not a bolt on as mine wasn't, you need to cut the old honeycomb grille off from the inside with saw.

I'm sure there are a bunch of others that have done this so you might want to do a search. Also did your grille come with instructions? Mine did and they were really good and explained this part. What kind are you replacing with?

Hope that helps,

DJ

hey thanks dj...
i revised my original statement. i have a street scene grille that is supposed to be clipped on to the outer grille. but to do that you have to separate the inner from the outer...and dont know how to do that without breaking those tabs off...

No problem, sorry about the confusion.

Re: grille trick?

why is everyone removing the front to install a grille? i installed my dunder spiderweb without removing anything but the 2 little plastic covers at the top of the grille under the hood and bolted it on that way.also had to remove skid plate to bolt on bottom half.probably would have been easier to do with the front off but i didntt want to dissasemble half of the truck for a grille.
