Wiring fog lights on XE w/o harness

This is fairly easy if you purchase the factory fog light kit and have some electrical wiring skills. All the other necessary hardware (relays, fuses, computer functionality) are already there and they will work just as described in the factory manual. The only part missing is the wire harness going to the fog lamps from the fuse box. You connect the two power leads for the fog lamp harness to pin number 50 & 51 of the #E123 connector located on the IPDM E/R (the fuse box located in the engine bay). See picture. The only tricky part is to find pins which fit into the factory connector. I had to custom file a pair of small spade connectors and then epoxy them in the connector. I ran the two fog light wires through an existing harness into the fuse box (see pic). It was not easy fishing them through! I would make a new hole next time. You can buy connectors for the fog lights at you local car parts store and cut a bigger slot in the center to fit the factory plug (see pics). Ground the other set of wires to the chassis (see pic). I just completed the installation on my 06 XE and they work great (look cool too)!

The factory kit comes with a replacement OEM stalk switch. Check it out at "http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=999F1-A6001". Just make sure you order the right kit depending on whether you have auto lights or not.
