- Use the 10mm socket to remove the cable from the negative terminal on the battery. Use a rag or something to wrap around the loose cable so it doesn't go sparking into something.
One little tech tip for you. The negative cable wont spark if it hits anything metal under the hood. The POS cable will do that, not the negative. This proves that electricity flows from negative to positive outside the battery, a fact a lot of people have trouble believing.
Oh, one more thing, im about to order this part, but first wanted to know,. Looks like you did it without the special "security torx" driver. So you odnt really need this? another write up said you did

Doh! Your right about the negative cable, but still doesn't hurt to wrap it up or cover up the terminal in case it goes smacking back into the neg terminal. Or shall I say, I am prone to bad luck..
Quick way to find out if you need the torx security is to just pop off one of the little covers behind the steering wheel with your thumb nail or flat head, and shine a flash light in there to see what type of head it has on it.
im just going to wait until the part gets here. My last car (05 altima) had the steering wheel audio controls, and I never thought I would miss it as I didnt care for it that much, but i was wrong. I keep reaching for my wheel out of habit, yet theres nothing there!
Not for long though! Beats the hell out of paying $1000 for the popular package to get the wheel controls.

I have a problem with getting all the tools. I cannot seem to find a T9 Torx anywhere. Is that the right size because I have seem numberous T8, and T10 torx but can not seem to find T9?

I dont think i have a T9 either. I'll make something work though
Come on guys! Get a T9, use the right tool. It's not that hard to fine one, if you use the wrong tool, you will make the job harder, and more likely to screw something up. A Torx Size 9, is not an exotic tool. They are readily available, and not expensive, I think I paid $8 for a big set of torx bits. Try Frys, Sears, Radio Shack, AutoZone, WalMart, Lowes, Home Depot
