Smile Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

[quote=Elbo]Preface:

Ok this works for the 2008 as well. I just installed it on my truck and I am a happy camper!!

A further note these guys are the cheapest I have seen.
www trademotion com (as posted by sickwhip)

In fact these guys / aka Mossy Nissan where located 2 miles from my house and they waived the shipping charge as I picked it up. 70 with tax!

Also I was told that the part number was not for my rtruck and would not work. It works perfect..

The hard part was removing the plugs off the air bag..

Also-
Using the $4.99 Sears hex tool as its 15 hex drivers in one.

As far as lining up the steering wheel. Remove the nut and you will see a notch in the metal to line it back up. No marking needed.

THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED>

Angry Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

Your info was first rate.and helped me do this job, mine is the xe and the wire was there for the cruise but not the radio I hooked up the switches and I GET NOTHING the radio controls do not work but it is the am/fm/cd so it might not be set up for the controls but the cruise does not work either so I am going to look at my brother in laws to see if there is something on his that is not on mine,it has the fuse and the wire's go to the gas pedal,so is there a relay somewhere or a connection I'm missing?

You need to have the Mid-Line in dash 6 disk changer head unit for this mod to work. If you have a single CD head unit you need to swap your stock parts back in for the cruise to work.

If you do swap back to stock let me know if you want to sell the control kit, because i have the 6 disk changer in my 04.

You need the 6 disk radio like in the first Att. The second Att. is a single disk and will not work. Both have been custom painted so your's will look a little different.

Exclamation Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

O.K. I just did this on an 08 XE and the hook up was thereshoot the cruise control wire was already there it was hooked up to the dummy switch but after finnishing up the radio controls did not operate anything and the cruise does not work.I have looked at my brother in laws xe 4x4 that came w/cruise but no power windows and all the relay's and fuses are the same.so I'm thinking it's in the ecm programming so I'm trying to getinfo on reprogramming the ecm or "turning on" the cruise using the consult system, but you know most dealers are'nt much help,so I sent a message to a couple of techs on this site.waiting on a reply will keep you posted.

Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

Hey Folks,

Wondering if anyone has tried this on the 08's XE single disc....

I read every post from the beginning with such anticipation of finding someone that said it worked on the XE single disc then was crushed a few posts back.... just trying to revive the hope.

Mine's an 08.5 XE with the stock single disc...

It came with CC factory as a result of an option package

After being used to driving the wife's Altima I'm always reaching for the audio controls on the left side!

Maybe if the single disc can never do this.... has anyone looked into how much it costs to get the Nissan factory 6-disc to pop into the double din hole and make this dream come true?

If you did pop the 6-disc in where the single was... is the wiring already there in the column for the steering wheel controls?

Cheers,
-Josh

Thumbs up Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

i have to agree with previous replies, dang this is a good write up and you dont realize how much you will miss your controls on the steering wheel until they are gone. I have an 08 crew cab with the 6 disc changer in dash and cruise control. does any one know if i can order the 2008 steering controls to get radio controls, i like the switches better in the 08. if not i am down for running the older style so i can have my freedom back. thanks for the help.

Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

ok so i didnt get any answers so i just did it. I ordered the 08 setup because they are back lit which makes it a ton easier. i had the dealer install it because i didnt want my face ripped off from an exploding air bag. it all works great no problems.

Re: Adding Steering Wheel Audio Controls

What did it cost for the 08 set-up, what was the part number, where did you get it? Mines a 08 XE prefered package 6 disc cd, I want to do this and the back lit would be cool since there not now.

I just ordered mine from Mossy Nissan, $88.00 out the door not the back lit though. They ordered me the 08 one pt# 25551-ZE08A, will be putting it in Sat.
