if someone can share some info, that would be appreciated.
i just got a dual tail pipe straight out the back flowmaster system.
sounds mean as hell when i get on it but when i idle down theirs a weird
metal clanging noise coming from the middle of the truck, right before the actual muffler. took it back to the shop after an hour and a half of searching they replaced the whole system
and the noise wont go away. no loose bolts or anything like that. the system is less than 24 hours old. i have on flowmaster with 2 pipes. they said thats normal because of the power the truck puts out. wondering if anybody has experienced this problem.
please help because im getting pissed at their answer.

I have the FM exhaust as well but have not experienced the noise you described. Maybe one if the wields came loose. Does it make that sound going over bumps or just at idle?

I got the 40 series on my truck and never got a metal noise just nice clean rumble...maybe a loose hanger or a rubber bushing they forgot to put somwhere??
no loose parts. but i only have one flowmaster and 2 pipes. could that be a problem.
if u mean u got the one inlet two outlets...thats what I got...
edit: maybe there are some metal shavings inside the pipes or inside the muffler? ud hear em more rattling at idle...maybe some loose solder that fell in?
Drive it a while and see if it goes away. Give it a good ole contry stompin (the gas that is)

I am looking at doing the same thing but going with dual pipes instead of just dual exhaust off a single muffler. Have you noticed any change in performance at all?
As far as your problem is concerned, I would continue to make them try to find the problem or demand that they put it back to stock and get your money back.
I've never had an issue with mine..... I wonder if they put an exhaust sheild on and it came loose????

Good luck.
i got my stock muffler on and cash in hand. they couldnt find the promlem. as performance im not sure, really didnt get to test it out. i was more concerned about the noise. but my stock muffler is quiet when i idle down so i dont think its anything to do with the truck.

Sorry to go off topic but it looks this thread is done anyhow.
But how does the 40series sound at idle and around town with easy throttle? I want something that not too loud when you're easy on it. I have *****y neighbors

Re: problems with flowmasters!
Does this happen when you're at higher RPMs and then let off the gas? A lot of free-flowing systems will 'crackle' from the post-detonation of the higher fuel/air ratio suddenly being introduced into the hot exhaust manifold. A 'poppity-poppity' (short crackle) is okay, more indicates too free-flowing or an air/fuel mix problem.

it sounded like metal clangning aftet i reaved it up high and released the gas.
when the truck was idleing down is when i heard the noise. but now that i got my stock muffler on i can BARELY hear it. so it was intesified with the flowmasters.
