Bumper Grill Install Question?

To install the bumper grill I am suppose to remove the stock plastic shroud.

I can't seem to get the darn thing off. I tried taking out the mounting tabs on the top part, but then I can figure out how to get the bottow part loose or out.

Any of those who have installed a bumper grill and removed this have any help?

Re: Bumper Grill Install Question?

I just fiqured this out yesterday, they are 6 nuts holding it on. I used a 1/2 inch socket. 4 on the bottom and 1 on each side. PITA if you ask me, and I broke 3 of the plastic bolts on the bottom putting it back on.

Re: Bumper Grill Install Question?

I suppose this depends on which grille you are using, but with mine (Mr. Grille) the OE plastic shroud stays in place.

I pulled the top grill, and the skid plate. I had to use a shallow socket and a real small extension, and a small ratchet. It is a real PITA. Unless you want to pull the bumper it will be hard.

Do you need the old grill, if not just pull on it and the little plastic studs will just break off.

I just used a box-end wrench fished down between the bumper and the shroud. It wasn't easy - ripped up the back of my hands on the edges of the bumper, but those taper nuts on the plastic only needed a few turns with the wrench and they turned by hand. PITA no matter how you look at it...
