Re: remote start plus alarm

Mine is just fine, no problems with my keyfob. (although I am on my second due to an install error with the first alarm brain. They gave me new everything.) The only complaint I have is that the remote itself is quite large.

How much did this set-up run you? I did a quick search on ebay and found one with a buy-it-now of $260. What would a good installed price be?

Re: remote start plus alarm

I didnt have to pay for install. Got a "good deal". But I would make sure you have a certified installer install it. Call your local shops- I would expect around 100-200 for an install. (you may do better if you buy and install from the same shop)

Question Re: remote start plus alarm

Is the Viper an Alarm and Remote Start? How does it integrate with the factory alarm?

Re: remote start plus alarm

There are many viper/DEI systems for sale- It is merely a brand. The 791 is a autostart/alarm combo. I have an XE without any factory alarm. However, I also know that you can add this auto/alarm to just about any car. Be aware that our trucks have a transponder in the key that will require some additonal install fee. If I had a stock alarm, I would dissable/scrap it for the benefit of the viper alarm range, paging, and convenience. Hope that helps.

Humm, yep, that's what I thought. Do you know where the cheapest place is to get a 791 setup?

Re: remote start plus alarm

I did a google search, and found one for $160. I have installed these before, and if you are mechanical... no problem. If not, I highly recommend a pro, or a talented buddy doing it for you. Keep in mind, as`was mentioned, most of our trucks have a transponder system, and you will need to purchase a bypass module if you want the remote start. Viper is the best definitely!
