Ok, after much research, I think the bakflip is the tonneau cover to have. I just cant find any downsides, with the possible exception of no rear window visibility with it folded all the way open.
It has the security of hard cover, versatility of soft cover, maintenance free, no sliding mechanisms to oil or jam, takes no room in the front of the bed like the peragon, no canister, i cant find anything wrong with it.
Looks like the BakFlip will run about $600 plus shipping. Looking at pictures, what I don't like about that design is if the cover is up, it is resting on the cab. Since the box will move independant of the cab, you will have some rubbing between the panels and the cab. If the cover is dirty with some grit on the panel, I wonder how well the paint will hold up to the rubbing over time.
p.s. If you are hauling cargo your load will likely push against the upright panels. With the rigid frames of the panels, you are likely gong to transfer that pressure against the cab. It is hard to say from a picture how much of a problem this is going to be, but I wouldn't suggest buying one without looking at it first.

I found it for $551.20 shipped. I never thought about it rubbing the cab. Im assuming there is a gap between the cab and panels when up, but i dont know for sure
One other thing I noticed that i dont like, is that when up, it appears to stick out past the cab, which would make some aerodynamic penalties if driving that way.
It doesn't need to be all the way up. The front panel can stay down and t he rest stack on it, much like the advance/foldacover. Additionally, when it is ALL the way up, it rests on the back glass via a rubber bumper/pad. Looks great, very low profile, but since it rests inside the bed, it does have minimal leaking. From 1 to 10, I give a solid 8.5. My $.02.
I think im going to get it. When i first got my truck, it caught my eye, and when I saw the $600 price , i quickly forgot about it. But now, when I consider a decent vinyl roll-up is pushing $400, it doesnt look like that bad of a buy

Do you have Utilitrac? If so, did anything have to be modified to install it? I have read that it has to be flipped over or you have to drill above it?

they dont give enough info. in that e-bay ad. Does it fold all the way against the cab like the bak-flip? thats the main advantage of the bakflip. these other ones only open up to the last panel, taking away bed space if you need to haul something tall against the cab.
Came in today. One things for sure, its extemely well packaged, has blow molded styrofoam and bubble wrap, and plastic bags everywhere. so its definatley better boxed than the lazer light according to the many complaints coming from those guys who bought those.

Doing the install now.
Please let us know how it goes, with pics if you can. Doesn't the website say that you have to install some drain tubes with this cover? That doesn't make sense to me, but I watched the install video on their website and it said you needed drain tubes. I like this cover but I don't want to drill holes in my bed!

It went well. Im 96% pleased with it. The finished edge by the tailgate is a little rough, like they could have cut it straighter.
yeah, i agree with you on the whole drain thing. I dont really see the purpose of them. I suppose rain is supposed to run down the bed rail support and into the drain hole, but the rail is covered with weather stripping, so its not going to get in there anyway. I havent had it in the rain yet, but it seems pretty weather tight.
Dont sweat the drain tubes, you can leave them off if you want. I ran them from the connection on the cover, down through the front bed tie downs and just kind of angled them towards the holes that are in the front of the bed, where the bed bottom meets the front wall, so any water will kind of flow in that direction if it even gets to the drain tubes in the first place.
I dont expect a water proof cover, and thats not an issue for me.
