Re: bed power outlet

WARNING !
If you try to run anything that requires too many amps ( not sure how many) It will blow the fuse. It happened to me last week. I tried to run a 12 volt air compressor that has battery connectors. What I did was I replaced the battery connectors + and - with a Cig. lighter type plug and it ran ok for about 30 secounds then blew the fuse.

Re: bed power outlet

Ideas I have seen on other rigs..

Now, if it is something you will use alot, here is an Idea..

Buy a decent Power inverter, mount it in the engine compartment, hard-wire it to batt. Then run Romex (110 power cable) to the bed along frame or other wiring harness, and install an outdoor power outlet / box.

Then you can do whatever you like with it. heck, you could even put the power box under the bumper or somewhere inside wheel well or somewhere hidden...

Truck entertainment system PART 1

I just got a 400 watt inverter but install was NICE...at least I think so and got it wired straight to the battery then I can either plug into the outlet from the inverter or inside the cab at my game plate...

Re: bed power outlet

The best prices on power inverters I've seen lately are at Pep Boys and Harbor Freight Tools.

Re: bed power outlet

Here are the cheapest power inverters I have found.

http://www.heartlandamerica.com/brow...A-07B8EEC59D56

Ive got a 2500 watt that I can run a small portable AC unit with. I put the AC unit in the tent!! It is not to smart to switch out the jumpers with a cig. adapter. Even if it does work you are going to burn the internal wiring in your truck if you put to much load on it, or the inverter will just overload. It can only draw so much wattage (usually up to 250 watts) out if the cig adapter. I also have a 500 inverter that if I want 500 watts I have to install the jumpers to the batt. or I can use the cigg. adapter to power up to 250 watts.
