Key for OEM Tool Box

I bought a used OEM toolbox but it only comes with one key (which is is assinine). The key is double sided. Has anyone gotten there key copied? I'm not sure it can be copied. Can anyone tell me where to go to order a duplicate if it can't be copied?

Any place that makes keys should be able to do that no problem. I had mine made at an Ace hardware.

Re: Key for OEM Tool Box

if u get it from nissan they give u a little stamped number plate, that way if u ever lose both keys u give nissan that number and they can print out a new key. im sure for a pretty penny. dont hurt the door either, the storage comp. door cost $600 alone.

The number of the key is stamped on the lock, at least mine is.

Re: Key for OEM Tool Box

The tag mentioned earlier is for the key to the truck only. Ignition, door, storage box. Not for the tool box accessory. No lock smith in my area could duplicate the key. Told me they had no blanks to fit it. And they were not available to them. I had my dealer order me some extra keys. When I picked them up they were in an envelope from DEE Zee. So if you can find someone that handles that brand they may also be able to supply them for you.

Excellent! Thanks Gcole. I could not find anyone local that could cut it either. There is a number on the key. I asked my local service dept. about it but have not heard back from them. As stated this is the key to the Nissan sliding toolbox not the side storage box. Thanks all!

Re: Key for OEM Tool Box

I just noticed you are in Vicksburg. I am in Hattiesburg.
The number on my keys is H700D
My local dealer, Petro, ordered them for me.
If yours takes the same key I would be happy to mail you one of mine.
I had them order 3.

Re: Key for OEM Tool Box

Same problem. Nissan dealer gave me one key, no number. Local hardware stores have no blanks. The best lock shop in Texas, here in Austin, has the blanks on back order. So, I have one key. Good luck if you lose it.

Thanks Gcole but my number is H705D. I haven't heard back from the dealership. I'll have to call them again Monday. I did notice that DEE ZEE has a line of boxes with the same Eberhard latch.

Do you have any info on the blank?

Re: Key for OEM Tool Box

I have no info. on a blank. Local lock smith told me that they had tried to get the blanks before with no luck. They even made me a key with a different blank. It would fit but would not operate the lock. That is when I went back to my Nissan dealer and ordered them.
