Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

They are both in the top 5, but the Volant is a true closed system where the Injen is not. The Injen does look better imo. That Borla catback does sound great...Gl.

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

They both produce similar numbers but the Injen is about $100 more (let say you're paying the extra $ for looks).

As I recall....Injen is a fully enclosed system too....

It's not like the AEM or Nismo what is open. Injen has a box like the Volant.

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

They are both nice, I just went through all these choices to. I went with the Volant because it is fully enclosed and price. I do like it and if I am not misstaken the injen doesnt have a snorkel that you can add to get the real cold air. My $.02

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

I just installed my Injen and I love it!!! Total difference in power. Sounds awsome, has a deep clean rumble sound to it. I only wish it had the snorkle. Can't beat the looks though. Makes everything else look incomplete. Anybody know hp gains on the injen??

As long as you're happy with your purchase, that's all that matters.

This is a dyno chart of FlimFlamMan. He's running the Injen w/ Banks Exhaust.
Second chart is his stock dyno.

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

INJEN has an opening near the wheel well (end cap) and another facing the radiator (on one of the four "sides"), otherwise it is enclosed. Just installed mine today. Using a GTech RR. I gained roughly 14.7 HP and 19.8 ft/Lbs torque. I was running 16.936s 1/4 and now run 16.176s. My 0-60 was 8.949s and is now 7.192s. Of course this isn't a dyno, but it is better than a "butt" dyno or it sounds faster etc etc. I did three runs for each configuration and my first runs were always the fastest and the third runs were always the slowest as the engine heated up. It was about 83 deg and 65% humidity. Except for maybe a gallon of gas I was the same weight both times. Bottom line is it produces extra HP and Torque and sounds louder at WOT. I did here a slight "whistle" at certain RPMs. I think it is the air going by the MAF at the proper speed and angle like a blow whistle that causes it.

The perforated side in this picture doesn't count as open? http://www.autoanything.com/generic_...2810&g_id=2035

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

Yeah, the Injen isn't an "enclosed box" like the Volant, but it's still a cool lookin intake, Just a lil expensive.

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

The "preforations" are just for looks. Three sides of the box is solid plastic covered by the chrome/stainless steel/polished alumnum whatever preforated metal. The fourth side is a screen.

Re: INJEN vs. VOLANT Cold air intake

Considering price, I'd go with the Volant. They're both excellent quality system, I doubt you'd be dissapointed with either. I've played with Injens in the past and find that they are very well designed, never really got to check out a Volant but everybody here loves them. That said, I'm very happy with my AFE Stage II and I'm putting down better #s on the dyno than most people with just it and the Banks.
