Bull Bar on 2WD

just curious on everyones opinion of a bull bar on a 2WD... i believe they are designed for 4WD for steep angles and brush and what not but i like the way they look and want one for the inevitable collision with a deer.... but mostly just for looks... be gentle fellas...

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

I think you will find just as many 2wd owners with them on as 4wd members. I think they look fine on a 2wd especially since the 2wd Titan rides a little higher then most other 2wd trucks.

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

I'm sure it would look fine. A Titan is a Titan 2wd or 4wd.

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

They are cosmetic it only, they reduce approach angles so 2 or 4 really makes no difference.

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

45mph may be pushing it...depending on the size of the deer. They are indeed for cosmetic purposes only.
I would assume that they may protect a little, but it would have to be a pretty minor impact.

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

If you hit an adult deer @ 45 MPH, not only will the deer roll up onto your hood and smack your windsheild pretty hard but the bull bar will be pushed into your radiator and make your truck not be able to drive away.
It is cosmetic only and really, the only protection it provides is in minor, slow collisions.

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

well thats ok i really want it for the cosmetic look anyway... if i hit a deer i hit a deer, thats what insurance is for... but i had a 2000 escort zx2 (i am ashamed of this) and hit a deer doing about 35 at the time of impact, not so much as a dent....

Re: Bull Bar on 2WD

I think they look great on any FULL SIZE truck. I want to put one on my 2wd. As they all say, its just cosmetic, bull bars were not originally designed for offroading they have just been adapted as a platform for lights. They are used on farm trucks, many of which are 2wd. A real bull bar is not very visually appealing and weights a ton because they are made from very thick guage steel and most of them have about a 12 inch thick bumper that sticks out so you can plow through just about anything. There are days when I wish I had one so I could push drivers out of the fast lane that won't move over.
