2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

Hey I just joined the forum and have been looking into grabbing some fog lights for my 2005 SE 4x2. Now I've read on two websites (one of the sites is Courtesy) so far that the OEM foglight kit does not fit on this particular year/model. I've seen the wiring harness when I went to change my headlights, so I don't think that's the problem. Why can't I install the OEMs and what does work instead??

My anniversary is coming up and I would like to pass this information on to my wife so she can get me something I know I would enjoy with my truck. She got an expensive purse, so I think I'm entitled to some accessories of my own. Truck accessories that is.

Thanks for all the help!

Re: 2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

You can absolutly install the factory fog light kit. I have the same truck, same year and installed them on mine without any issues. The problem is some trucks were coming from the factory without the wiring harness installed. If you've looked under the front bumber and see them...you're good to go. They should be taped up to the support. It's really easy plug n' play installation. Yeah, I feel ya on the expensive purse thing just got my girl one for our anniversary!

Re: 2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

Hey thanks for all the help. I think it should be in the interest of the websites then to put a disclaimer up then stating that if the wiring harness is there, that you can go ahead and buy the lights. That way, you don't discourage potential customers and people like me don't have to go around asking.

Another question though, did you leave the stock lights in or have any of you all upgraded from the stock bulbs?

Re: 2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

On my last titan, I upgraded the bulbs to a 55 watt bulb and WOW what a difference! I also did the math, the difference in current draw between the stock and the 55 watter isn't that bad. I think the stock ones are something like a 30 watt? If I remember correctly, the fuse for it is either a 10a or 15a. Just make sure you aim the fogs correctly, otherwise you WILL be blinding other drivers.

Re: 2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

It would be payback though to all them little coffee can mufflered, weed eater sounding cars that have lights brighter than aircraft landing lights.

But yeah thanks for the heads-up.

Re: 2005 SE 4X2 and Fog Lights

If you want them functional, then you need not only the lights, but also the new blinker module. I got mine from Courtesy Parts, and they come with a replacement module. Installation is easy and instructions are spot on.
