I was planning on getting the Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 285x60x18 size. Does anyone have these, and if so how do you like them. Also, there wouldn't be any fitment issues with this size correct?
Don't have 'em but Consumer Reports named them as their #1 All-terrain light truck tires. "The top-performing all-terrain tire is the Nitto Terra Grappler AT. It demonstrated good all-weather grip and very good handling, and produced very low road noise. On the downside, like many other models in this test, it had a high rolling resistance."
So how does the "high rolling resistance" translate out in the real world? Is there a SIGNIFICANT drop in mileage? I'm not one to split hairs with .5 MPG, but if it's 3 or 4.....that's a horse of different color.

I highly doubt it is 3 or 4 and would be surprised if it was even a 1 mpg loss. BTW, I didn't realize there was a tire and wheel forum so sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Intuitively I'd agree. Shouldn't be much of a mileage difference. I've only got 2k miles on the originals, but I'm already looking out there for what's available and how it rates when it's time to replace them. I've always liked the BFG AT's, and the Bridgestone's (I had Desert Duelers), but I'm open minded. I honestly don't have a real NEED anymore for an all terrain tire, but they sure look nice.

I have 285/60-18 terra Grapplers. My 05 4x4 KC is stock height and they don't rub. The tires are quiet on the hiway and have great traction off road.

I had those tires also...in 295 70r17 with the PRG 2.5 lift...
I LOVED THEM!!
the only reason I didn't stick with them was I lifted my truck and wanted to stick with a 17in wheel....Nitto does not make that tire in a 35" for a 17" wheel so I went with the BFG KTO's

Here's a pic. The wheels are 18X9 Moto Metal Black Powder Coated.

I have had the 285/60/18 Terras for about 14 months and I love them. No one issue with them. They have great grip-wet or dry, lower noise then the highway goodyears,do very well off road and the ride of the truck has improved as well. I would get them or wait and be one of the first with the Dune Grappler in 285/65/18. You have to wait until late august though. Good Luck you will love them.
Carb, I would think that you will have no problem, but ask the tire saleman. BTW, my speedometer and odometer reads 10% more because of the smaller tire. I had the 265/70-18 stock, that are 33" tall, my nittos are 30". That causes my speedometer and odometer to read 10% more. Example: at 50 mph the speedo reads 55 mph. And for every mile I drive, it reads 1.1 mile on the odometer. I verified this info with the mile marker on the hiway, and with the radar display on the side of the road installed by some cities. And also by mathematical calculations.
