Re: billstein shocks

Yes, it makes a difference. To me the main difference was that the OEM Rancho shocks had no rebound, whereas the Bilsteins do.

Re: billstein shocks

I am glad I saw this thread. I am planning to change my shocks later on also with bilstein but not sure if it makes the difference with the ride. Well, I got my answer without posting my question here. LOL!

Re: billstein shocks

You may also want to consider the Donohoes for the rear. From what I understand, the Bilstein have close specs for our trucks but the Donohoes are specifically spec'd so they should ride better than even the Bilsteins. Don't know the cost differences though.

basically, if the shock does not rebound (go back to the resting state) and is still compressed and you hit another bump or repeated bumps, you will bottom out the shock which would make the ride very bumpy. i just upgraded my suspension to a full Donahoe setup and the ride is extremely smooth.

i had the OEM Rancho suspension before and other owners on this forum have said that the non-offroad suspension is better than the rancho stuff.

i got my 4x4 rear DR's for 198 and i believe the Bilsteins are 178.

Re: billstein shocks

The bilsteins in the rear ride great. It will smooth out the ride by controlling the bumping in the rear.
