what do u guys think? it would be more for sound then performance right? u all with one, what do u think...u like em? any sound clips out there? Also, where would be the ideal place to install and what size inlet would be needed? we got 2.5 in pipe?
Size depends on where you install it... you'll need two 2.25"s if you're going to replace the resonators, a 2.5" on OEM exhaust (I think?), 3" if you have an aftermarket 3" exhaust.
My vote is no. They leak, they're a mess, unnecessary, no performance gains, obnoxiously loud. But that's just me.

lol...the only reason Id want it is for the obnoxiously loud part I think...lol...I can just imagine some guy reving it at me with their 40 series (even though I also got a 40 series) and then me opening it up and just laughin my butt off when hes like WTF?? lol
THey are really loud, mine are in place of the resonators and they are 2.25", i always have them open, i love the reactions i get when people hear my truck. so i say if you want really loud then you want these.

They must be legal in Texas. They for sure aren't in Washington State. And now when you go into the 'inspection station' they actually look under the car/truck with a mirror at the exhaust mods to make sure you still have the cats on.
But, from an old hotrodder...
You will lose substantial low end torque and power with the cutouts open. The trick used to be to get the car launched, then pull the cutout. That way, as the car has now gotten rolling and the engine is now winding up, the cutout opens at the right time.
Install your cutouts ahead of the cats and the muffler. Make sure that you have a 'tail' on the cutout so the exhaust dumps to the street. Otherwise, the floorboards and whatever's in the way can get AWFUL hot. Hot enough to make carpets smoke. Don't ask how I know this...
Hope this helps.

I had a pair of cut-outs on my '72 Buick Skylark back in the mid 80's ....yep, she was loud.... I played with them almost daily for about a month....and then a little less and a little less and after about 6 months I never even fooled with them at all.....cut-outs is something that I hope everybody gets to play with at least once in their life, as I did.....but I'll never spend money on that kind of foolishness again on account of me being too dang old now.
