Just wanted to show a few shots of my diff cover install, and also show how puny and pathetic the stock 04 cover is. The MAG cover is thick, stout is a good word,oh and its DEEP.
I serviced 3.5 qts (or so) of Amsoil 75-140w synth gear oil.
The drained oil was fairly black and had some microscopic particles on the drain plug. Sifting through the oil revealed no detectable metal pieces. Whew.
I have 13,500 miles on my truck and have not towed anything significant yet... that is until my boat purchase next year!
Any questions or comment just drop me a message..
Oh cost of the cover was 220 bucks shipped, and the gear oil was 10 bucks a qt. Pretty expensive yes, but my mind is at ease now. I plan on installing a temp gauge soon as the cover has a built in port.
Hey Titan power - Great pictures! really.
I desperately need to know the measurement from the pumpkin base to the edge of the new cover. I have the hellwig sway bar and need to know if this will fit. It looks like they are about 2" different in depth?

RB i will be right back with the measurements. Sure is easy to put these things on when its lifted!
Ok im back. Its about 3 7/8 deep. so just say under 4 inches. Let us know it the bar will fit
Oops sorry Mantis, yes that is the dipstick to check the oil level. This thing has allot of cool features for such
a simple part. The gasket is even reusable according to Mag.

Ok I've measured from the edge of the pumpkin on axle to the front edge of the hellwig annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddD the number is 6.125" for the total distance.
So if the MagTec is 4" we have 2" to spare....
IT FITS!!!!! Yippie Thanks Titan Power!

Dumb question alert. What does the hellwig do?? Glad it will fit
The peace of mind is worth it i feel.
Kartman, i am researching the how-to on installing one. I bet its pretty easy as the diff cover has a removable plug and the temp sensor will hopefully screw right into those threads. Then the fun part is routing the wires thru the cab and attaching the gauge. I am curious to know if it is a direct reading gauge that requires no power, or if i need to tap into a power source.... more to follow!
Oh, thats a pretty cool picture of your truck! whats the story behind the photo? Looks like you getting ready to run over a big rock (front right wheel..)

The hellwig is designed to help with body roll. I use it as a safety device because my truck stock scared me a bit when making a quick move on the highway at 75-80mph. It is also good for those hauling loads as it helps to distribute weight in bed or on tow hitch. I don't think you 4x4 guys would want one as it would limit some wheel travel.
