Super 40 series...different than regular 40 series?

Hey, I got a 40 series muffler on my truck right now am wondering who has the "super 40 series and what the differences are? Is the super 40 louder? I want louder...I have heard that they sound the same but horsepower and better performance is gained through the super 40...BUT the guy who installs my mufflers told me the super 40 sounds louder and meaner than my already 40 series that I got...any advice or comments? anyone got one? any sound clips?

If you like the Flowmaster sound go with the 1 chamber race muffler 3'' in 3'' out. I have have one on a Dakota the only reason it is made, is so you can tell the policeman you do have a muffler!

the super 40 has 1 or 2 extra baffles inside to be quieter, not louder.

why would it get "better performance" then if its restricting air a bit more?

Re: Super 40 series...different than regular 40 series?

I had a super 40 on my Titan for a month or two, It was defenitly quiter than my buddies regular 40 on his Hemi. And it had horrible drone to boot. I now happily have a Gibson.

The extra baffles don't restrict air flow more. The same volume of air still passes through the muffler but the sound waves are refracted more to quiet the sound levels.

Re: Super 40 series...different than regular 40 series?

I have the super 40 series on my titan right now. I think it sounds good and loud. This year they made a dual in dual out which is what I put on. The guy at the shop said they didn't make them and he pulled out his 05 catalog and it wasn't in there so I told him to check online and sure enough. Get better gas mileage now also.

there is no extra performance. Whoever told you that must be looking to make some money off you or is just smoking crack.
