HID Headlights

I was lookin' at getting the HID conversion for my truck. On ebay there are a couple of places that have them for about 190 with a 3 year warranty and the relay harness. If you have done the conversion, what do you think? Was is worth it? How hard were they to install? If you can, do you have pics? One last question, What temp color did you get?

Re: HID Headlights

They are awesome. Most of the debate is which color to get and if one should spend the extra money for the JDM rather than the Made in China brands. I personally but the nonJDM on eBay for $158 shipped. I purchased the 6000k and changed my fog lamps to the yellow colored bulb. IMO, this setup looks awesome! Install was very easy on the Titans... less than 30min for both. Just be sure to secure the ballast especially if you plan on doing any off-roading

Re: HID Headlights

if you want 8000k go for the JDM, otherwise I would look elsewhere. Their might be a 6000k sticker on the bx but aparently the guy only likes to sell 8000k.

Even after I paid return shipping both ways to have my 8000k foglights matched to the 6000k lowbeams he got my order wrong again and shipped me back my 8000k foglihts (which are not exactly color matched themselves) and replaced my lowbeams with 8000k.

I don't like running cheap ballasts though because they can cause problems with your electrical system shoudl something go wrong. (voltage spikes etc). But so far I have not heard any bad reports about the china HID's on this forum other than one guy got bad bulbs. They are 158 + 50-60 shipping I believe so the JDM @ 260 shipped is not muh more. Just hope for others to have better luck then myself @ getting the correct colors!

I mounted 2 ballasts to the trays under the headlights with industrial strength velcro. I mounted the other 2 inside the engine compartment under the coolant bottle and wiper fluid bottle (also with velcro)

Yep thats me lol, The ballast "might" be higher quality, but I ended up with 8000k when I ordered 6000k, and one of the Ballasts took a long time to warm up compared to the others which only take a few seconds. (He did replace the balast at least and I don't have that problem anymore) Although IMO he should have covered the shipping on a defective product. It's NOT like it worked for a while and then went bad, it didn't work correctly right out of the box; and I know damn well it did not cost him $15 (which I paid) to ship them back to me using 5 day ground shipping when it only cost me $8.10 to ship it to him Priority, which is 2-3 day rather than having to wait for 7 days...Not going to post anymore about it here you can just search for my post if you care to.

Then again I'm the kinda person who no matter what I buy it will be defective. I get more defective products than anyone I know of. It's as if "sucker" was stamped on my forehead lol.

Cheaper HID's bulbs will also color shift faster, but who's to say the JDM bulbs are or are not cheaper in that sense than the ones made in china? If I was going to do it again I would have bought the 5000k Philips or setup even if it is $140 more...

JDM does have a set of 40 watt HID's they are releasing soon. but I think my 4 35 watters are bright enough, even if they are 8000k....
