Not impressed with Zoomers

On 5/24/06 I purchased a zoomers catback exhaust because everyone on this site raves about them. Today I discovered that the rear most hanger is completely detached leaving just a hole. Imagine my delight. Anyone else have any issues with this? I don't beat my truck in the slightest. The most offroading it sees is an occasional dirt road....

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

That is the saddest excuse for a weld i have seen in a while....I would let them know and send a pic with it...I was a welder for 5 yrs. before i got into construction and that is sad...

There was plenty of room to put a good bead of weld on both sides of the brace..All i see is about 1/2 inch on both sides when it could have been a good inch+ on both sides...Bad welding job.....

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

I was liking it up until now. It's loud without being unbearable. I have e-mailed them and included a picture. We shall see what they say.

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

Well, I'm certainly glad I got the Volant. I think I remember someone raving about the Zoomers saying you get what you pay for...I guess the $700 wasn't enough!! lol..

That sucks. Hopefully they will replace it free of charge.

I picked up my Volant for $450 shipped. Volant Exhaust Installation w/PIX

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

For the price tag, they ought to take care of it. I am liking my 350.00 magnaflow set up more and more every day.

I'm hoping this is just an isolated event, because I know several people have the Zoomers exhaust, and I hope they don't experience this problem either. Hopefully your vendor and/or Zoomers will take care of you and get everything fixed for you.

Another thought...Could have been an angry/jealous Hemi owner that stepped on your exhaust tip???

I do agree, though, that it was a very crappy weld. Seems like Zoomers should have welded it better. Here is one of the welds on my new Volant exhaust system. Seems to be a little more robust, and more of the hanger was actually welded to the piping.

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

Zoomer's actually did the install? If not, then I don't see how any this would be Zoomer's fault. I've had their cat back now for over a year, with no issues at all. I took the exhaust to an exhaust shop, and it took 25 minutes at the most to put it on my truck. No welding issues here. That's just a smacktard welding job.

The Zoomers comes welded. It's a direct bolt-on exhaust system. That is why it is Zoomers fault, because they did a crappy weld-job from the factory.

Re: Not impressed with Zoomers

Look at how thin the wall of the piping is. Looks a little thin there. So thin it couldn't hold up to the twisting and bending your exhaust takes. Looks like you are paying for the name not the product.

My system didn't come welded.
