Power doorlocks/windows

well ya, i got the base model...not that big of a deal, but i went to nissan parts today for a estimate...the guy told me almost $1000 in parts, and whatever labor will be...so i think im gonna go to a car stereo and security place and just do an aftermarket kit...although i found some websites where i can get both kids for under $400. I kind of have an idea how to do it. has anyone done this?

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

naw i dont need to replace the door..that will cut out some cost...cuz it wont really matter...since i will be doing custom work to the door and covering it with suede...but ya the toggle switches, the popper, the window motors, the harnesses...and whatever else

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

it would be easy to do. My XE didnt come with power mirrors so I replaced the drivers and passenge door wire harness and added power mirrors, switch and made the wire harness from the fuse box to the switch, and now I have power mirrors---this helps when I was a helicopter mechanic

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

Im in the same boat, I finally gave up the 2000 fully loaded frontier for a base model 05 Titan XE. I have had it 3 days and I am Loving the truck but missin my power windows/ keyless entry. I have seen a few kits online that are inexpensive and the install doesn't look all that bad. This site gives an idea of what installation would be like for the locks a1electric.com/cable_locks.htm
The titan is suppose to be like the toyota in the pictures.
Post more on what you find out.

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

No problem.. It really is very easy but make sure you buy the locks for cable type doors and run a deticated fused power source from the battery. The motors draw a good amount of current and better not to tye in to your trucks harness.

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

Good luck with the installs. Becareful with the plastic door panels. THey arm made of different pieces put together and get damaged easy. When you place the motors tuck them inside as much as possible.

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

ya i will be gentle on my baby...
so i would take off the door panel...hook up the door lock cable poppers (i guess they are)...and then take off the roll up crap...and mount in the motor for the window?? ...then hook up the harness and the switches...now my question would be...theres a kit on a1electric that comes with a keyless entry fob...if im going to get a viper or valet keyless/remote start fob would i need to get that anyways? or would the viper alarm come with the keyless entry module?

Re: Power doorlocks/windows

ya got the power window/door locks in....PEICE OF ****

passanger window motor...sounds like its already goin out...
both windows are slow as ****
when the passanger window is going up the light on the switch goes out
the door locks unlock when you start the car...and nothing else special...not a central locking system, i unlock the driver...the passanger does not open.

everything is hooked up right...the windows and door locks are running off a relay straight from the battery. not impressed AT ALL

Sorry you are haveing problems sounds like your install is not quite right . I have a king cab xe with added power locks and windows , keyless entry done proffessionally by a vendor in tx and I am very pleased. Best thing about it it was it was paid for by the stealership as part of my deal 2005 kc 18300 out the door.
