Well, I think the idea of buying a used ECU is out of the question because it won't recognize my key. I can go to the dealer to fix this, but that's more hassle and money.
This is from Jared at UpRev. He thought I was going to send in the used ECU rather than my factory ECU. However, his information still applies.

The ECUs do vary from trim to trim. You need to get one that matches your options. The options that make a difference are BigTow package, VDC, 2wd VS 4x4, and flex fuel VS standard petrol. We have had some luck running software off a big tow ECU on a non big tow, but so far that is the only option we’ve found to be interchangeable. We’d be willing to try to mix and match others, but w/o your truck right in front of us for testing we couldn’t fix any issues, so I don’t think we should try it on a mail in. Also consider that if you send us a used ECU you will have to take it to the dealer the get your keys remarried to the ECU/BCM. If you send us the one that is running in your truck then it will not have to be remarried after you get it back. Also if you get a brand new ECU (virgin) from Nissan then it will not have to be married either. Virgin ECUs marry to the first key that is used on them.
