Security Alarms

I'm researching alarm systems (obviously with some reason...that being my truck was broken into and the gps/stereo was stolen...not to mention my wife's car...same day).

They broke into my truck and found a valet key to my wife's car (I didn't know it was in the truck). I'd like a system that senses widow breakage, which could have prevented it.

I'd also like to have a system with a fob that alarms when the alarm goes off.

Ideas/recommendations?

Thanks.

What systems are recommended? I really don't know anything about them. I've been researching on the internet and can really only find marketing stuff. I'd really like to know what systems provide the best protection, and have remote fobs/key chains that alert when the alarm goes off.

Also...What did you pay for the system and installation?

Thanks!

Re: Security Alarms

python and rattler are marketed through the chain electronic stores while viper is for the private resellers. dei and clifford have been around forever so these aren't bad choices.

lcd remotes are included in these lines, but the remotes are good only if you are within it's range.

all systems include a shock sensor and starter kill; some have horn honking. horn honking makes it extra noisy as well as being something more time consuming and difficult to stop. the key to is add extra triggers. audio sensor for breaking glass. proximity sensor for external perimeter protection. interior field disturbance sensor. tilt sensor against towing and stealing wheels. piezo siren used in the interior as a pain generator. self powered sirens won't stop barking even when the wires are cut.

equip however you like but you won't stop everyone.

Are there any systems out there that douse burglars in tar and drop ball bearings all over the ground, followed by a puff of goose feathers and a swing of a spring-loaded baseball bat?

If so...I'm writing a check now.

Re: Security Alarms

its all in the installation. a poorly indstalled high end alarm will do you no good. ask to see installs if you go to shops and stay away fromm best buy and circuit city. a properly installed alarm takes more than the two or three hours they take. making it as factory looking is key, the placing of each sensor and adjustment is also important. the hidding of the "brain" and siren are also key factors. ive been installing alarms and remote starts on and off for about 10 years and have used the omega research brands in my last four cars, including the titan and my wifes car, with no problems at all. lots of options and safety features. ive also used dei products without any problems.

Re: Security Alarms

OK...Has anyone with a high-end alarm with remote fob alarm, ultra high db siren, etc. actually had their truck broken into and had the burglar give up and leave?
